  • To Spend or Not to Spend ? That is the Question

Queen’s Park Rangers manager Harry Redknapp may well be mulling over this very conundrum after his side pulled off an extraordinary 1-0 victory at Stamford Bridge.* Fresh from humiliation against Liverpool on Sunday, QPR turned from a disorganised, inept rabble into a side capable of ending the Blues’ four-game winning streak. To go from one extreme, to the other, would not be what I would advise.
My advice would simply be, try and avoid any more 30somethings looking for one last big payday.

A bit of January investment against the risk of relegation makes football and financial sense - maybe £10m something like that maybe a little more if it made the difference to get players like Samba+Lampard(unlikely but wise to be flexible) - relegation could cost a fortune after all.
The main thing IMO is to give Harry some freedom to get VFM by moving some out and some in. TBH the club is paying top dollar for players who just have not come even close. Getting paid more than anyone at Spurs while being rock solid bottom of the table is nuts. I am not really worried about the tiny chance of losing someone who might one day come good. More worried that some of the underperformers and those who have been squabbling in the dressing room are kept on. Redknapp has a top record of spotting players and the transfer business - trusting his judgement would likely bring more benefit than spending big.
TLDR; A bit of investment but mostly let Houdini do his stuff - thats what he is here for after all.
