Too many fans expect him to do "spectacular things" and he himself tries to do spectacular things and this is the problem 90% of the time. Yes it's great when it comes off, but ffs Adel, do it in the right areas of the pitch, or when there's literally no alternative.
The problem is, especially of late after he's re-established himself as a pretty much certain starter, he's trying stuff nealy every time he gets the ball and more often than not messing it up and leaving the team at risk with players out of position when the opposition break against our already suspect defence. It doesn't help for example if Traore's bust a lung to give an option 40 yards up the left Wing, only to be ignored by Adel who loses the ball..... Good teams, like Liverpool the other day, exploit the openings and play in the holes created by such errors. The CB's then have to stretch creating a gaping hole in the heart of the defence for clever players, like Suarez, Rooney, RVP, Aguero etc etc etc to exploit to the full.
What i want is for Adel to forget the spectacular stuff and become a master of the simple things. Play the game almost within himself, which will be far more effective for the team, but also, knowing when needed he could leave someone for dead in a blink of an eye. Also, if he didn't try the tricks all the time, defending players would be less likely to expect it when he occasionally did, probably resulting in far more success.
For me there was a lesson to be learned the other day for Adel, not by Suarez who was class it has to be said, but from Gerrard. Obviously one of the best of a generation, but the other day what was so brilliant was that he made everything he did look so simple, which for a player of his talent it was, but it was simply effective for Liverpool. He doesn't need fancy tricks and 40 yard shots to standout... he does that by making the game look effortless. Adel take note and you may one day get somewhere close to his worth to a football team.
