we need someone to get the ball and run with it, that man is routledge.

you cant have a team of 11 players who say "here you go, you are my friend so im going to let you have the ball now"

you need at least 1 person to grab the game by the scruff of the neck.

routledge can do that, legs can do the same in the middle but by commanding it, and we need a striker who can do that.

Any decent striker would have controlled, shot and scored the chance Tarabbt had on Satrday. I would have scored that I think, or at least had the awareness to take a touch and shoot. Sorry Pete but he isn't a natural goalscorer. I think he is an exciting player.

Yes with two target men we needed to get wieand cross it. We didn't. You're right about Cookie on that front. And Ainsworth is a forgotten man. He needs to be at least on the bench every match, he has such an impact on the whole atmos when he comes on.

Tarrabt is not a striker and shouldn't be played there. If we got him in as a striker, then that was the wrong reason to bring him in. I thought last season when both Tarrabt and Hogan played, they turned defenders inside out. They read each other perfectly with their tricks and flicks and we created more chances. They were drawing 2 or 3 defenders towards them and then knocking the ball into the space for our players to run onto.

Ainsworth can run and take players on, but his crossing is poor. Cook's crossing is good but he doesn't seem to be able to go past players anymore.

i think Routledge has looked our best player this season. He is probably as ****ed off with most of his team mates as we are. Just hope that criticizing him, Pete, is your own opinion on the matter and not something thought up at the club to put him in a bad light cos they are getting ready to cash in on him to Cardiff. Or do i see too many conspiracies....

Supercat, you are exactly right in everything you have just said, except I think Ainsworth's crossing is pretty good!

Hogan plays well with Taarabt and Routledge. A Vine/Buzz combo also brings the best out of him.
                But where is he?
Not even on the sodding bench.
I don't think JM realises how good Hogan can be played alongside the right players.

I dont often agree with anything Pete writes, but on this I do agree especially with Routledge. IMHO he is one of those players that flatters somewhat, he's exciting with the ball at his feet, he has pace a good touch etc, but this cutting in at every opportunity is doing my head in. For all criticism cook got last season you would always get at least one or two quality crosses into the right areas, Routledge delevered no end product, and for me the Routledge / Taarbet wing combo is not going to work in a 4-4-2 time and again the full backs and the CM's were left totally exposed because of the failure to defend as a team and track back, going forward both cut inside making us very narrow and easy to defend against. Both have a tendancy to run with the ball in the wrong areas and then over run, rather than passing through the middle third and doing the damage in the final third, It was no coincidence that we only began to look dangerous going forward once Buzz came on and we started passing in the right areas.

On a side note have to say Borrowdale was shockingly bad

Oh, and Ainsworth is a great impact player in terms of motivating and lifting the team to salvage something out of a match.
He did really well against Exeter -- would like to see him on the bench at least for some games.

Like most of the games this season we play to score goals from midfield rather than our forwards hence why tarrabt has been playing behind the striker, many people think hes playing upfront but im not havin it,magiltons idea is to play of the target man and midfielders to attack the lay offswhich aint working .On saturday when i saw the teamsheet with two strikers playing i thought we might play to there strenghs and get crosses in for em to attack but i remember two crosses all game, which brings me to the conclusion magiltons tactics are shocking, we need to play to feed the strikers not midfielders i know what you gonna say we got pants forwards but have faith itl come trust me

I think watching Taarabt is like watching a moth round a lightbulb. He just goes round and round and does nothing at the end. He's really getting on my nerves now because he never sees a pass and his shooting is pretty woeful. He'll be lucky to score 10 this season and get no "assists" because he doesn't pass. It's like he's playing for a schoolboy football team.

He just makes me dizzy watching him.

He reminds me of my ten month old psychotic cat, who goes loopy and slides around on the laminate flooring, he gets so excited. Very enjoyable to watch but pretty pointless.
They both just need time to mature and grow up.

Magilton called Routledge across when he made the change and told him to play on the left.

Well, if that is the case.. then what was Magilton doing not telling Routledge to move back to the right after 5 minutes on the left, when it was clear it wasn't working?
