  • Some REAL perspective of the season so far

Having read some really silly knee jerk reactions, made by fans who clearly care, but have no idea, prompts me to make some obvious points.

16 months ago we rid ourselves of some really poor owners who hadn't considered their investment properly. By the time they realised what was needed to compete at the top level they lost their bottle and sold out. Tony Fernandes decided he would do a deal with the Mittals and we were and should still be over the moon about this.

Fernandes & the Mittals immediately invested in the team at the end of September 2011 window then again in January and this summer. Everything that has been done from buying expensive players, firing Warnock, hiring and firing Hughes and bringing in expensive back room staff was done so with the best will of the club in mind. Our current owners are the best owners in the WORLD for any manager to work for, of that I'm certain!

They want success and put trust in Hughes, the same as they will with Harry next month and beyond. They will have realised the errors of Hughes ways and would have discussed this with Harry, who would have given them his opinion on Hughes purchases and how he will spend their money much more wisely.

Given the mess Hughes got us in, we have the best owners and best manager possible to try and get us out of it. If the damage has been done and it's too late then I believe we have the best owners and best manager to get us straight back up. They are here for the long term and are learning how to run a football business.

Any negative talk of Harry, the owners & their off-the-field staff should be put to bed. We will improve, have faith!

Cheers guys. We are giving it our best go with what we have. The point is we have the right manager now and the owners wouldn't have said to themselves before giving Hughes his pmsl "warchest"

"right lets waste £100m of OUR money on a load of old shiite"

Good post Rich. Some calm logical thinking is what is needed not dramatic knee jerk threads like some earlier

even though thats exactly what they have done and may be relegated because of it.

The point is lessons have been learnt and the owners didn't do it on purpose. If TF had poked his nose in like Flavio we would have been moaning so TF let a manager he trusted get on with it. BIG mistake, but a mistake is all it is.

it is a big mistake and one which they have surely learnt from but its still a total **** up. May not be murder but manslaughter is same end result. We could end up like Portsmouth or worse if relegated this season and whose fault is that whether it was on purpose or not?

But why keep going on about it, what's done is done as the fella said.

The owners made a strategic buisness decision with regards to the investment, which was done in good faith, and I don't seem to recall many people saying it was wrong at the time. They put a reputable (at the time) manager in charge of affairs and it is only due to his incompetence that we now have these problems.

We are not going to do a "Portsmouth", TF has continually said that he will stand by us even if we go down. What is the point of unjustified scaremongering, other than trying to create a further wave of negativity, which helps no-one?

Good post, Rich. But do you honestly believe Harry will manage us in the Championship?

I think under the current board he will definitely, yes mate. With most the overpaid and under working mercenaries gone and some younger hungrier players will be do well if relegated. I also believe the owners will stay and with their money and parachute money we will be fine. There will also be relegation clauses in most, if not all of the big earners contracts. Such a clause wouldn't have scared off a mercenary at that time as the amount of money we were spending would have left most (us fans included) the feeling that such a relegation could never happen..................
