  • Team for Newcastle?

Mine would be unchanged from the Fulham game but with Hoilett in for Cisse, and put Mackie up front. Cisse isn't really doing it for me, still looks uninterested and not really a constant threat imo. Mackie will get many chances with this midfield behind him and is more likely to convert them unlike Cisse. Faurlin and Taarabt have a great understanding of each others play and will do doubt create chances for each other and for Mackie. SWP and Hoilett will provide the crosses and cut in occasionally. Mbia's just a rock in midfield, I think we're safe there! Defence should cope I reckon - although Onuoha still looks rather dodgy at right back imo, perhaps Redknapp should try Diakite there? He's played there previously at time at his old club in France.

    ---------------Green-------------
    Onuoha----Nelsen--Hill----Traore
    SWP-------Mbia--Faurlin---Hoilett
    --------------Taarabt-----------
    --------------Mackie-------------

harry said the other day "its no surprise that the same strikers are top of the scoring charts year after year." He thinks you are either a goalscorer or you aren't. How many goals has Mackie ever scored in a season? Just can't see him starting as main striker.

18 in 68 appearances for us, or a goal every 3.7 games. Not bad considering he's spent most of his time out on the wing. Cisse has 8 in 26 for us, so a goal every 3.25 games.

I like the look of this. Wouldn't be surprised if Diakite starts tomorrow though.

Fair point, tho half of mackie's goals in the championship so not a true comparison. not lethal enough for a team looking to play one up front and stay in the prem imo. even if he kept to that ratio you would be looking at him scoring about 10/12 goals a season, and as our loan striker would probably be our leading scorer. recipe for relegation imho.

Same team as last week for me but Harry might want to be a bit more solid in the middle so could see him starting 3 in there

Probably unchanged from the Fulham but managers are usually more defensive away so might have a slightly different shape.
Compared to last away at Wigan getting more possession in the opponents half would be a huge step forward.
Otherwise those waves of attack get relentless.

In fact if Adel has a more "quiet" game, compared to Fulham, but as a result he was able to keep the ball in their half as a result allowing his team mates to move forward and pushing Newcastle back, that might be the key to getting something, and shutting the crowd up too.

Not an easy or a glamorous job but simply having the ball in the opponents half brings rewards and he is capable of doing it.
