    I largely agree although you always have to keep in mind that its all very well saying we should buy x or y player, but a club of our size is simply not going to be able to attract what Harry would call "top, top, top" players. Anyone we do get will have an issue (age, injury record, attitude, whatever).

      Because of Hughes kid in a sweet shop transfer policy were lumbered with old injury prone crap now. It's gonna take a few seasons to get rid of them.

        but if we had just focused on getting Chris Samba and maybe Andy Carroll on loan or Berbatov we cd have happily done without at least a dozen of the other lot.
        also a few that we have released deserved a chance, HH and Tommy for starters

          Agreed. With a couple of exceptions just Samba+Berba would have added more than the rest put together.
          A team needs a few reliable stars in key positions who make things tick. The rest are supporting players who do their jobs and work as a team.
          Hughes bought only supporting players and they did not work as a team. A toxic combination.
