Im not overly sure he will play that role away from home. Yes it is his best position and at LR he controls the game at times in that role but can we afford that luxury on our travels? You could say we need to start going for it but i wouldnt be surprised to see another centre mid, maybe Derry come in at Newcastle.
Neil Warnock gave him a free role, while Mark Hughes was just thick
Under Les Ferdinand:
Luke Freeman, top assists in the league: 4million
Alex Smithies, great goalie for this club: 3,5million
Charlie Austin, 19 Premier League goals: 4million
Jack Robinson: Contract ran out, left for free
And many more mistakes
OK,thanks. He is excellent in a free role. Understatement of the day.
Agreed 100% & I know Harry loves having Adel here dispite what people want to believe that they won't get on

Hope we dont revert to Derry v Newcastle. Will always be fond of him for what he has done for us but he is way passed it now. We can still play a solid midfield with Adel in a free role: traore or faurlin out left, swp, mackie or park out right, mbia and diakite/ Faurlin in the middle. You just need the two wide players to track back more, and into the centre if necessary. Just seems a mistake to blunt our best attacking option. We have seen how isolated Cisse gets if Adel isn't close behind him.

Agreed. I would also prefer Faurlin on the pitch. As stated dozens of times by various posters on here, him and Adel have a great understanding between them.

I hate this words, thats what makes a small club small and a big club big. why the hell we have to change anything home or away, play at your strength as real teams do. 11 players against 11.
what the hell? the away team players have 4 legs and us 2 ? we have to give it a go home and away.
Bear in mind that most teams in the Prem play with three centre-mids and Adel will rarely, if ever, come up against a side prepared to give him so much space between the lines as Fulham did. So its not like 'Adel in the centre' is some sort of magical formula guaranteed success.
Against Newcastle, if Adel plays centrally, one of Tiote or Gutierrez (probably Tiote) will be charged with closing him down whilst the other two CMs press Faurlin and pick up Mbia's runs.
It's our match vs West Ham, but in reverse. Easy to say ITS OBVIOUS TO PLAY HIM IN THE MIDDLE when Fulham played right into our hands.
I'm certainly a fan of Adel in the middle, as long as we have enough direct players ahead of him prepared to get in the box, and as long as he is able to get on the ball and work some space for himself.
There will be games where he is best used cutting in from the left however, when playing a team with a particularly strong CM or perhaps a particularly dodgy RB.
