  • January business

Whilst we would all love to believe, and now 'arry is in charge it seems more of a possibility, we still need to remember the relegation is a likely outcome for us this season. So having said that what do you think our approach should be this January? 'Spend, spend spend' or trim the wage bill down and a few low profile signings?

In my opinion these players should go out in January:
    - Bosingwa (no explanation needed)
    - Granero (good player but is probably on big wages and we could get decent money for him, plus we have Faurlin, Diakite and Mbia who can all play in his position)
    - Park (just not been impressed at all, injured too often)
    - 'Don't like football' (if anyone would have him)
    - Cesar(?) (same reason as Granero - purely financial and Green has done more than enough in the past few games to merit keeping his place in the starting XI. Are we really in a postion to have two world class keepers?)
    - SWP(?) (dissapointing for us since he joined, though some slight improvement under Redknapp)
    - Ferdinand (assuming we get a new CB in)

    Players in:
    - DJ Campbell (surely this is a no-brainer)
    - A Lambert/Holt type of player from the lower leagues - both have scored many goals for their respected clubs and would do a lot better job than some of the prima donna, high wage demanding players we've been linked with so far.
    - A CB who's an aeriel threat defensively and offensively, the Nelsen/Hill partnership is working well at the moment, but whenever we have a corner for or against I never expect a good outcome.

Just to reiterate, these are the players who I would try to sell/buy to ensure if we do get relegated we don't end up like Portsmouth, whilst retaining enough in our squad to have a chance of staying up - we'de all like to believe but sometimes its best to prepare for the worst.

    What do you guys think?

Problem with these threads is its all very well and good saying sell these lot however, there needs to be a buyer and Im sure we would like to recoup a large proportion of our outlay seeing as most of your list includes summer signings...... now ask yourself seriously, of that lot, who do you think you could realistically get shot of in January?..... also what would that do to team morale?, how about we try something novel and have a quiet transfer window for a change...

As we'll lose diakite to the ACN it is not so clever to sell two CM's. Then we're down to Faurlin, Derry and M'bia...

Granero and Cesar i'm sure we could find buyers for. Also we signed the other lot so i'm sure we could find some other mugs who would pay for them.

Has the chairman or the board even hinted of serious financial problems at the club? Bringing up Portsmouth seems a bit of a red herring otherwise. Also surely it is the big wages paid to players bought in the summer that cannot even get into the team that is the ugly money side of relegation. The handful of short term loans the manager is reportedly looking at are not going to make worse any of the deals done in the summer and in fact might help release a few of them if buyers can be found.

Faurlin and Mbia would do a fine job together as long as they avoid injury, but are we really a big enough club in a good enough postion to warrant a player that earing £50,000 odd a week we paid £8m odd for as cover?

If we're selling a goalie, it has got to be Green...

just need 2 young CBs and one beast striker thats it.
and on my behalf I dnt care if we go down , I just want to watch QPR play whatever division is. and plus, I love championship more than EPL if you ask me! at least in championship you enjoy real matches of football without that plastic mediatic cover and money grabbers of the EPL.

I agree with the players out, except swp. Hes looked much better under redknapp. As for zamora, only get rid if another couple of strikers come in.

                            Drop Ephraim, Ferdinand and Johnson.

Recall DJ, bring in a striker and a CB.

                            Done.
