  • Tony Fernandes: Staying whatever happens

    Good news.

Thank Christ, mind, that Harry was available to replace Hughes, because Tony says if he wasn't available, "I would probably have persevered with Mark.....". By perservere Tony means "continued to bang his head very hard against the wall on the hour every hour....."

Indeed we are lucky. With him staying whatever happens is a big relief IMO. I could take a season or two in the championship knowing that my club is stable financially, thats everything for me. With Tony, Amit & co in for the long-haul we just need some consistency and we'll be a big club in 10 years or so.

Lets hope so and all turns out Rosey in the garden BUT don't forget this is the clubs PR machine working overtime.

Slightly worried why he had to mention he'd have kept Hughes .
"Steve, do you think 25k is a good option when there are indications that within four years, new stadiums on average have increased attendances of 60%?
For us that would mean around 29k."

                Yep, really good to read.

It could only have been improved had he mentioned Amit (& the Mittal financial backing) is also here for the long term.

But would it be stable financially? I am impressed by the personal committment of our owners but I think you will agree with me that we do not actually have solid proof that the club will survive relegation in the spring without eventually going into administration.

Call me cynical, but I think two things are happening here:
                  1) They hope we stay up.
                  2) They hope that if we go down they will manage to reduce wages and other expenditure sufficiently to ensure financial viability.
Hope being the keyword. No way will they invest a lot of their own money if we are relegated and unstable, no way.
And if the worst comes to worst, it won't be the owners' fault directly.
It will be simply because Hughes was given too much of their trust for too long.
Banning people is no longer my hobby,
but take a look at my photo blog:

he is a god owner for sure and I think QPR fans do know how lucky they are. I don't see people slate him, even though they slate our best players regularly.

However, we are bottom in the worst season to get relageted due to 70% more TV money going into the PL next year.

It's great having someone committed to the cuase, but staying up will go more towards financial stability than anything else. Especially as TF is no where near rich enough to bank roll a PL club and I don't think we know if the main Mittal is even interested.

                        Good points Kirill.

It is this kind of stuff I am worried about. As I've said before, this club is far away from standing on it's own feet. We are heavily backed by our investors every week to cover for our losses - I am no ITK but it is not hard to imagine how our weekly bill looks like with 18k attendances and the players we employ.
I just pray that TF and Amit will turn things around.

Yes he's been a fantastic chairman and saved us from Briatore and Ecclestone but the problem with TF is; he has no experience of running a football club, and thats just another example of that. He is a very succesful businessman but when you buy a plane, you know how many passengers it fits, you know how far it'll fly on a full tank - you know what you will get out of your investments. In football - you don't.

Fan pressure. I think it's good he listens, he should've acted sooner but I really hope he does stay with us, like others said we are very lucky to have him.
