  • Ripped off by QPR yet again

Just checked online to see if my automatic cup game ticket for the West Brom match had been debited yet from my credit card and although it had been processed a couple of weeks ago the club still had the cheek to stick a £3.50 booking fee on top of the £25 price of the ticket

Now I have moaned in the past about being ripped off when I had an away season ticket and was charged for every single match regardless and in fact I was once sent three away tickets in a week and still charged on each but I guess at least they had a very feeble excuse that they were posted to me but now my mate picks up my away tickets I have now able to tell them where to stick that charge

However the charge for loading a cup game on to my season ticket is simply extortionate and a blatent rip off for what is already extremely expensive time watching the team we love

I thought all these charges were to be made illegal this year anyway by the Government and think we should all get our heads together and campaign against being taken for mugs

Certainly not on charging someone as dedicated to the cause as you mate. These charges if should only be charged to the jonny come latelys and those who purchase tickets on an ad-hoc basis.

This kind of thing stops some low-earning fans from coming to games, because for them a few pounds mean a lot. Disgraceful.

It think applying such a differentiating approach would be even worse than the current universal charge. I can only afford to attend 2-3 games per season so why should I be punished by paying the 3.50 every time? I certainly won't be able to afford more as a result.
Banning people is no longer my hobby,
but take a look at my photo blog:

How and why did I start supporting QPR in Estonia:

Might be being a bit simplistic here, but I'm a simple soul. With the amounts of money going through the business at the moment, surely it would make sense just to sell tickets via our own box office, staffed by our own employees, incurring no outside charges from needless organisations such as Ticketmaster. They should also just scrap all booking fees entirely.

Surely it cannot be beyond the technical ability of a Premier League football club, to be able to offer the facility for fans to purchase online and print their own e-ticket. (OK, that might be a bit ridiculous, if we are judging that ability on the strength of what is our official site).

The club should be doing absolutely everything in their power to ease the financial burden on any fan and in particular, those who have season tickets or travel all over the country giving their support to the team. They should certainly not be allowing outside agencies to nick £3.50 from all of us, just because they can.

Whilst many good things appear to be happening off the field, behind the scenes, it would be a massive mistake to underestimate the strength of feeling with regard to issues such as these. Because if things were not to end well this season, the desperately needed goodwill will not come from booking fees, but from appreciative fans.

I may be missing the obvious though.

Outsourcing is cheaper, especially if the costs are wrapped up in the booking fee. If QPR did all of the ticketing themselves they would simply recover their costs another way.

I would rather that booking fees were abolihsed and the price of tickets covered it all. Just like hidden costs on airlines.

Presumably though, QPR are responsible for producing the tickets. What exactly is it that makes it cheaper for Ticketmaster to take the phone call and put a ticket in an envelope? And what additional costs are there, other than a stamp? Might as well not have any box office staff at all if that isn't within their area of responsibility.

Or how can a £3.50 fee be justified for simply tapping my season ticket number on to a PC and ticking yes to add the West Brom Cup game to it?

I mean I have committed to buying the ticket/product anyway so why take advantage of loyalty by stinging me for an extra 13% on top of the advertised price

Totally agree with this. Not too bad when they are phisically mailing you a ticket but when they are just loading something onto a membership card/season ticket it is taking the p**s to be honest...

Maybe the won't have box office staff in coming years who knows. No idea who produces the tickets. The booking fee is a sting, it's just a hidden cost. If they take it away they will simply put the ticket price up by £3.50.

the whole charges thing really f@cks me off, which is why i now go to the box office before the match and save the money for a pint. i booked 4 tickets through ticketmaster for a gig the other week, i was charged for every ticket separately. Considering you do all of the form filling and printing off yourself i think these firms have a right nerve charging the customer to do all the leg work.

I think someone should email this thread link to the club. Its the least we can do to make them aware of fans' grievances.

I think they know only too well, they just don't care because such backlashes are toothless. We grumble but continue paying, what choice do we have, so they won't bother changing it.
