and this is the EXACT mindset which has left us with Bosingwa et al. Haven't heard of him? Doesn't play for a big club? Must be terrible, let's sign Frank Lampard!!

We have some slow learners here

im not sure if we would be bidding for him if he wasnt korean, youd think the board wouldve been put off after getting their fingers burnt this first time round. id much rather we bought a player based on merit and not on ethnicity, if this is true its another cringeworthy attempt to sell shirts.

Completely different situation. Lee is still only 24, and was Bolton's best player when they had that excellent run under Owen Coyle a couple seasons ago. I've no idea how he's playing since he got back from his major injury, but its very unfair to lump him in with Park simply because of his nationality. Lee doesn't have Park's global status anyway

FERNANDES / PUPPET / STRINGS / SHIRTS .............. Lets hope not Eh
"Steve, do you think 25k is a good option when there are indications that within four years, new stadiums on average have increased attendances of 60%?
For us that would mean around 29k."

It is a clearly illogical claim that Harry Redknapp or Tony Fernandez would be signing a player at this critical juncture based solely on how many shirts he would sell, rather than his footballing ability. Relegation is likely unless our team performs for the rest of the season, and no amount of shirt-selling will merit the financial losses incurred by relegation.

With the current bid for Lee being 8M, do you even realize how many shirts it will take to recover that amount? I'm just guessing, but probably more than a million shirts, at least. Do you really think that one in fifty Koreans will buy a QPR shirt because of Lee?

As absurd as the idea is, let us say that you are right and that Lee sells 20M worth of shirts. If we bought him for 10M, Lee would have generated 10M of profit for the club from shirt sales alone. In that case, we would be up 10M and also end up with a good winger as well.

This is bad for the club, how?

let me put it do you this way joon, if said player wasnt from said part of the world we would not consider buying him especially not for the figure mentioned (for that amount we could buy better, that plays at the top level). without having to needlessly go over this whole saga again, in my opinion buying a player for his marketability which in this case coincides with his nationality is wrong (especially given our current predicament). this applies across the board, if we were owned by turkish airlines i wouldnt condone buying a turkish player based on nationality alone. if the player in question wasnt korean i doubt you wouldve felt the need to jump on here defending the decision, just look at it objectively for second.

£8m ? Harry could probably buy 3 top top top players for that and still have change left over. I would be surprised if this one was high on his list tbh.

That is quite an odd statement it has to be said. There are some excellent Asian Footballers, take Ki at Swansea, I was gutted we didn't go in for him, the boy is class. It doesn't matter where the players are from if they have the right mentality and obviously the ability.
