Where did you read about the suspensions? It may be that it is just those routes running. Still, no good if no game anyway.
i hope for your sake it is genuinely running, a few years ago when we were playing birmingham away on boxing day id booked a ticket on virgin. needless to say i turned up at the station and no trains were running.

I dont know what you do for a living but i bet your not responsible for the lives of hundreds of people, i bet youve never had someone someone commit suicide at your hands , i bet youve never had your workplace ( ie the train i was driving ) catch fire and youve been the responsible person to make sure everyone was safe , i could go on for ages here ....
What i`m trying to say is dont be so f ucking ignorant about somthing you have no knowledge about
And how do you know what I do? I work nights and days far longer than a train driver and I'm tucked up supposedly tucked up asleep? Considering I have done work for TFL I'd say I'm fairly clued up. But hey if you think that being a train drivers led you some sort of super hero then be my guest. As for the suicide scenario I'm sure the years paid leave helps......

                But getting back on track.....(!)
Vespa, why the strike, over Bank Holiday payments ? A contract was presumably signed when drivers took the job, informing them they would need to work weekends. So why is it a problem now ?

The world has changed, Bank Holiday and Sunday rates are becoming a thing of the past since we have 24x7 supermarkets and Sunday trading.

I work shifts, 12+ hour Days & Nights, I work most Bank holiday's including Xmas Day and Easter Sunday when 99% of the country don't.
I get paid well and although I'm not responsible for others lives, I suspect your earning considerably more than Nurses & Ambulance Drivers, a similar amount to Police & Fire Brigades and less than most Doctors....so it's all relevant.

                  I didnt say i`m a superhero , but i`m not a thief , as youve said.
Your making light of someone committing suicide , and the effect that has on the Driver ?????
What do you do then , that puts you in a position to make stupid comments about my job ?

The last part of that is my main issue to be honest. Apologies for any offence caused but its something I feel strongly about with a lot of family members doing the jobs mentioned in the above post.

Although I do agree with the sentiment of these drivers and what theyre saying; but when does it stop? Its becoming nearly an annual thing now the strikes - they get the demands they want, then a year down the line these demands increase? What's to say that they wont get their demands now and this time next year they up these again and yet another strike is arranged? This aint meana be having a pop at all btw, genuine questions.

Seems only selected careers have enough union power to call the shots like this, if I wante to try and strike for more money I'd be handed me p45 and told to get down the gym and lose some weight whilst I found a new career.
You should never underestimate the predictability of stupidity.

Hardly back on track talking about train drivers contracts is it.

Sorry Brighton yep Southern services are running into Victoria that day.

Other guy who asked no Overground services from CLJ to Shepherds Bush that day.

With regard to that, I don't think there's anyone, including every tube driver who believes we should be earning more than the likes of these people. It is messed up but unfortunately is the way it is. So many jobs pay more than these jobs stated, including those you pay to watch roll around on the floor feigning injury every week. Perspective

It's true. I can't say I agree with most of the reasons for striking and you'll find nowadays that when there is a strike it isn't that well supported, especially not by drivers. However if a union doesn't stick together, then it will fall apart. Also let's be honest if any of you could be in a strong union within your workplace, you wouldn't think twice about joining.

Yes I understand that and your post makes the most sense of any. Like I say apologies for any offence caused but I just can't understand the never ending strikes when you don't see the jobs mentioned before striking that they have to work and work even on Xmas. Apologies also to Vespa as perhaps shouldn't have used the words thieves etc.
