  • M Bia the man mountain

Taraabt will get the headlines and plaudits and rightly so but this guy was magnificent. An absolute rock and was everywhere. Candidate for MOM

Needs to learn how to pass though, the amount of time he gave the ball away was horrendous, does do a lot of good defensive work though like you said.

mbia should stop shooting from 50m away and his long ball forwards are disaster. he should only concentrate in regaining the ball back and possession instead.

I think AT wins MOTM hands down but M'Bia and Faurlin were both excellent which allowed Adel to freelance a bit!

really? thought he was one of our weakest links. some of his pasing was shocking. faurlin was different league. traore excellent, as were hill and nelson. even onouha was fine. adel was head and shoulders man of the match. mackie back to his indulgent, ineffective worst.

No I thought he did well defensively, but I agree going forward he was (and always has been awful). Faurlin made a massive difference today as he can actually pick out a proper pass, Taarabt benefits from this as it means he just get in space and know Faurlin will find him rather than him having to try and do it all himself!

Agree about Mackie, might be worth trying Hoilett there next week though I expect Arry will keep the same team!

Mbia was very good defensively, but offered nothing going forward, so I have no idea how he can even be considered a contender for MotM.

I think that is harsh on Mackie, I think his work-rate really helped the midfield. I remember one instance where Fulham were breaking forward (one of the few occasions), and I saw Mackie darting back and covering in defence. Small things like these can make the difference between conceding and not conceding.

Yep fair comments fez, he was strong in the tackle and very powerful. i can see that harry wants him for his defensive qualities but diakite offers much more going forward imo.

But with Diakite you always feel he might get booked any minute. Mbia seems a lot cooler (apart from the stupidity against Arsenal).

Up to a point. Not sure there is a huge amount to choose between them in terms of temperament. it wasn't just the rash tackle at arsenal. he gave away a stupid freekick today late on which cd have cost us. not slating the player as harry has clearly harnassed his power and athleticism which we have badly lacked but if he is to become a regular in midfield has to start showing a lot, lot more composure on the ball imho.

I might have been over the top saying he was excellent because some of his passing in the first half was terrible, he was very solid overall though and won some important challenges in the midfield! At this point I think he's a better option than Diakite!
