Fernandes, like those fans (including myself) who remained loyal to Hughes, were largely a victim of our past under Briatore. If we hadn't gone through such upheaval already am sure he would have pulled the trigger sooner. Fernandes believed in Hughes and let us not forget the fan base was pretty well united behind the decision to appoint him just as it was behind Harry's appointment - indeed, many couldn't believe our luck in getting him. It was only the last few games where probably the majority of fans finally lost faith. If Fernandes's only fault was excessive loyalty then I can think of worse crimes...

I might be a bit too critical here, but don't take this as me bashing the board. Just simply an observation.
Can we be sure the board hasn't played a part in identifying and actively acquiring some of the overpaid players that haven't been performing this season. We all complain about some of the mercenaries currently at the club, but are they all Hughes' players?
If you look at the history of signings since Fernandes took over there does seem to be a common trend of misjudged signings; Premiership players sitting on the bench at other clubs on big wages who are past their best or just eager for a big paycheck. Nobody else wants them, but we are more than happy to double their wages (okay double may be a slight exaggeration!)
I love Fernandes for his commitment to the club the passion he has and the fact that he's a down to earth bloke, but I wonder whether some of the poor signings have been down to the board as opposed to all the blame being heaped on Hughes?
Hughes should have definitely done better with the group of players and he definitely had to go, but moving forward I think we need a complete overhaul in regards to our transfer policy!

The writing loomed large on the wall for Mark Hughes, the team put such a dire shift in against Southampton, I knew then, Mark had lost the dressing room.
If the team had really felt loyal to Hughes, they wouldn't have played half as bad as they did.
