not at all.....stoke have set a good blue print that mostly home grown squad can do ok.....overseas players have no real feeling for the history and passion british fans have for their clubs.....hence why so many limp wristed local derbies these days1

I can see where you’re coming from Facto but I think the key is the number of non British players and the attitude of the squad their joining. If you have a close nit squad then anyone joining it in the main would conform to that already inbuilt ethos. When you join a squad like ours which is strangers there is nothing to fit into (what is our team ethos workhorses (Norwich), skilful (Swansea/Arsenal), Pace and Power (Spurs/Chelsea), Nasty/physical (Stoke) I honestly don’t think we currently have one!!!! We have no identity) we have changed too much too quickly.

Norwich and Swansea it pains me to say have got it spot on. Kept a nucleus of a tight squad (band of brothers) and have added decent unheard of foreigners who have bought into what they are already doing. Where as we allowed Mark Hughes to adopt the scatter gun approach and pretend he was on his PC playing Football Manager buying as many players as he can.

I think we now have a manager who can get the right foreign players in and get them to play as he proved at Pompey but at the current time it’s not his squad. Let’s hope were still in touch so Harry can work his magic

Plenty of Supporters did want overseas superstars from day 1 of the project, but from now on
let´s build on a nucleus of Hoolahan´s and Maclean´s in the future. Add a few scandinavians and Germans to it and it will be perfect.

factus old chap - the country of origin is not the problem. The quality of player and team balance are more important. English players are amongst our biggest let downs. I am sure you don't need me to list them?
