we have defenders (being paid bundles) who can't defend, so Adel's defending isn't really the point
he is expected to track back and give some support, which he does with limitations
surely, his main function is to create chances, score goals and hurt teams at the other end of the field.
our goals conceded column is not his fault is it?
shall we start a thread that Clint Hill can't atttack or Traore never scores?
this thread IMO is not really relevent to our situation, poor signings, sh-- defending, lack of goals, under achieving players and lack of motivaton are more to the point!!

Very relevent.
Getting bona fide defenders, to grasp the basics of defending, when they have been incapable most of the year, is one task I don't envy Harry Redknapp.

I hope all his critics remember having a go at him for not tracking back when we're watching Tony Scully mk2 in the lower leagues.

The idea that AMs shouldn't have to defend is completely wrong btw - are we supposed to just let every single team double up on Traore down our left? Or let every team with 3 CMs walz through the middle? - but Adel's attacking more than compensates for his defending.

ALL players have some defensive responsibilities but Adel's defending (which is what this thread is about) is NOT the reason we're looking down the barrel, that's for sure

Taarabt has created chances for the team and some of his passes have been excellent - the one for Granero at Arsenal was world class - he can't be blamed for players missing the chances (although he has been guilty of missing many chances too).

But to blame him for some of the goals conceded is going too far. The defenders 'defending' should be doing a far better job than they have. From the opening game to the last, the majority of the goals have been down to poor or non existent marking,poor clearances, weak tackles or deflections and this is not down to Taarabt.
He has been tracking back, but like many creative maverick types, Bowles, Hudson, Le Tissier etc tackling is not a strong point - scoring and creating goals and chances are.

WOW comparing Taarabt to Lee Trundle, at least give Adel some credit and compare him to someone like Quaresma or Denilson, someone with the ability to go to the top but didn't quite do it, not bloody Lee Trundle who has never had the ability to go far. Lee Trundles showboating was against dog n duck players not premiership stars.

Are these same players that Tarrabt did it against in the Championship but couldn't repeat in the Prem???

I know. I am critical of certain aspects of Tarbs game (even though he's my fav player after Derry), but at least I don't blame him for everything.

But he has repeated it in the Premiership in some games. You clearly are just an Adel Taarabt hater who probably sits there every game hoping he screws up instead of doing well just so you could come on here and criticise him.
