  • Lawro's prediction

Mark Lawrenson has done his weekly Premier League predictions for the BBC, this week he seems to feel that the Latics will take a spanking at home to QPR, come on Lawro, anyways let's take a look at his reasoning:

    Wigan v QPR

It was interesting that QPR boss Harry Redknapp left Djibril Cisse on the bench in their draw with Aston Villa last week and let Jamie Mackie loose to cause some havoc up front.

Mackie can certainly cause teams a few problem - he is gutsy and has pace - and the same can be said for Shaun Wright-Phillips, who also came back into Rangers' starting line-up.

QPR are still unbeaten under Redknapp but I look at them away from home and wonder where their goals are going to come from. That's a problem, because he needs wins - draws are not enough in their position.

I can see Rangers continuing their improvement with a win at the DW Stadium but I am a little bit wary - just because it is Wigan we are talking about.

With the Latics, it is always the same old question - which version of them will turn up this weekend? I am just not sure.

They have lost four of their last five league games which is normally the time they start winning - they might flop completely but they could just as easily come out and win 4-0. QPR should be worried!

I spoke to Latics boss Roberto Martinez last week and he told me this is the best team he has had in his time in charge of the club.

They have slipped down the table after their poor run and are hovering above the relegation zone, which is probably where they are going to stay for the foreseeable future.

But the positive thing for Martinez is that there are not too many members of his team who are looking for a move in January, which makes a change. Keeping his side together will definitely help their prospects.

Could be that we might be on a 4-0 hiding according to Lawro or am I misreading his prediction?
