Could do a job as an emergency up top but we need to stop mincing about and buy players and play them in their most affective positions remember George santos , centre backs dont normally make effective strikers . I'm not in any way trying to compare the two players as they are worlds apart but you get my drift . We need a top class proven goalscorer

Indeed. I know he was going for ridiculous money but we could have happily gone without Park, Granero, Johnson, Green and probably quite a few more if only we had got him. So frustrating that it was blindingly obvious to all of us pre-season that the one position we desperately needed a really top quality player was centre half. We wouldn't have let in half of those weak goals from corners. And because we would have been so much more solid at the back we could have been more adventurous going forward too. If it is true, even on loan, it would be a massive, massive coup - just hope its not too late.

Understand where the OP says he will take a massive pay cut to play PL football but as Harry says no point in signing anyone if we're already out of it. Plus can't see Samba wanting to sign a contract if he knows he's gonna be relegated, otherwise what would be the point of the move. Sorry but just saying.

You're right, which is why I can see maybe a loan until the end of season with the option to buy upon survival? Who knows, all I do know is I'm chuffed to be linked with him as he is top drawer and exactly what we need.
