Just seen that Reading have pulled out of the race...

Maybe not the answer, but better than what we have...surely?

                Someone put a word in
Cheaper than Beckford at £1.8 million, might want to stay locally, and he has championship experience with 17 goals last season.

Don't be a chopper Pete, you're boring me mate.

He's a forward who as he was too good to leave out was played out wide due to players like Ellington and King being better. Played in his favoured position last season and gets 18.

Taarabt is NOT a winger, so get over it.

                    Tommy Smith's record:

                    1997–2003 Watford 149 (33)
                    2003–2004 Sunderland 37 (4)
                    2004–2006 Derby County 99 (20)
                    2006– Watford 124 (27)

His goal scoring record is pretty poor, despite having a good goal scoring record last season. Not sure he is what we need. He's more of second striker than an out and out goal poacher in the Kevin Philips mould..
