  • Ji sung parks disciples!

I was speaking to a couple of korean chaps at the football yesterday both of whom had qpr tops on and park wrote on the back. I asked them how long have you supported qpr. There answer was only since he (park) arrived at the club, i find this bizzare what if he goes to another team does that mean you then support them. potentially it means that by signing a player you could massivly increase your fan base and if they sign for someone else then all the fans who like him go off down the road for another club. In british football culture you support the team not individuals. No player is bigger than the club no matter who ! if we signed messi tomorrow i still support qpr and cheer on messi whilst he played for us. Once he leaves im not going to got to another clubs ground and buy a shirt with his name on his back. Do you think that its the identity and mentality (tribalism) is what seperates the british from most other cultures
The idea of giving an individual player this level of support is a strange concept to me.

I mentioned towards the end of the conversation that old red nose knows when its time to get rid and the younger one almost creamed himself when i mentioned man utd, its really strange its almost as if they are scared to commit to one team because that paticular team might lose and they dont want to be associated with anybody but the champions for fear of being ridiculed, i wont shed many tears whenn they are all going to whatever club park goes to next

Not sure why you let this bother you so much. They are contributing money to the club, adding to the crowd which was not a sell out and in fact had tons of tickets left in LSE just 2 days before the game.

Why don't you just live and let live and get off people's backs?

Who cares what their reasons are. I support QPR because of where I was born and lived when I was young. That is not the norm these days. In fact when we take the nipper to his football the most coomon top now is Barca.

Yeah thats because kids want to support winners and be associated , but these are adults Im not on anyones back im only using a forum for what its for. The reason there are loads of tickets left is because we need to ssort out the seating and get more kids in on the cheap not parks personal travelling fan club

it not a question of anybody being better than others, Its about trying to get a handle on a different type of supporter.

I don't know, I stopped supporting QPR when Lee Cook left, Cook! Cook, love Cook, bigger then Leyton! should be Barcelona! Cook! Love Cook!

On a serious note I've voiced my opinions on Park & the Asian following. It's good to sell shirts, but he's not a player I like having at Qpr
                  Under Les Ferdinand:
Luke Freeman, top assists in the league: 4million
Alex Smithies, great goalie for this club: 3,5million
Charlie Austin, 19 Premier League goals: 4million
Jack Robinson: Contract ran out, left for free
                  And many more mistakes

LES FERDINAND, IT'S TIME TO GO

agree with silvercue re Korean fans, seats empty everywhere, know xmas is around the corner but 17,000 is embarrassing
I must away now, I can no longer tarry
This morning's tempest I have to cross
I must be guided without a stumble

he isn't selling many shirts, but he is generating money if it brings new support. It's no worse that poeple supporting the best team. And no one is being denied tickets - dont make me laugh. There has been one game in years hard to get a ticket and that was v Leeds.

I watched LA Galaxy last night on TV and I am glad they won for no other reason than I like what David Beckham has done. If I went to the states and went to LA this year I would possibly have caught a game. Does that make me some sort of idiot? No.

At least they are contributing to that waste of space's salary now that must be a positive. They were the only ones who cheered when he came on.

Let them come, its like taking candy off a baby as far as some extra cash is concerned because they won't be with us for long unless we sign another Korean. Get used to the idea as this is what the EPL is all about tourists and the floaters.

As has been pointed out, many Korean fans continued supporting Man U even after Park left. Maybe that'll be the same with us, so how can that be a bad thing?

60% would leave us and hopefully devoted 40% would stay just as I will.
