  • Granero was poor? Are people for real (no pun intended)?

He was one of the best players for us, he rarely gave the ball away, and commanded possession well. Maybe he was poor compared to the expectations some fans had of him (he'll score two goals every game because he is from Real Madrid), but to call him poor yesterday is complete and utter rubbish.

Hope Harry can get the best out of him but i think he has looked poor in quite a few games this season, last night included. Hopefully not another Parejo, just has to be given time to adjust to our game maybe.

          Hit and Miss -

          Pros (based on this season)
          1. Works hard for 90 mins
          2. CAN play a ball to feet
          3. Can find a striker well
          4. Makes the game easier.

          Cons
          1. Sometimes does too much
          2. Can also give the ball away
          3. Set pieces are sometimes awful

Mostly a hit; but, in terms of performing in the final third, a bit of a miss last night. That's the story of the team, which Harry will put right. I think, Cisse aside, last night's line up saw the nucleus of a good team, which includes Granero.

I think the problem is that he is looking for players running into space, he don't see a single person and then either makes a simple pass side ways or tries to create a wonderful pass and loses it.

He started off well when he came here, has drifted slightly. Harry will get the players working for one another and we'll be fine.

Exactly the problem we have with Tarbs, there is no movement in the team. This is why we need Faurlin, then we will have three creative, intelligent midfielders who can hopefully start feeding off one another.

It's hilarious that anyone with any genuine football knowledge can think he is poor. He had a terrible first half v Saints as he was out of position completely (there is a huge difference between central and wide midfield) and also because he seemed to sulk about it. Other than that he has been a great purchase for us. Our best central midfielder by some distance.

He is quick, he tackles well (and intercepts well), he is a fantastic passer, his positioning is first class, he has good set pieces on the whole, and he works hard (Saints aside).

Totally agree with this. Once the team- plus additions up front- start playing better in the final third he'll be a great player for us.

Yes, agree with this. The guy is class. I don't think a lot of his critics really understand the value of ball-retention, spreading play, moving up the pitch etc. Don't think Granero is 'some distance' better than Faurlin though, but otherwise spot on.

Totally agree I was one of the 450 faithfull that made the trip Taarabt & Granero tried hard but they gave the ball away an awful lot especially second half. Our best player was M'bia by a long way and at least Harry had the sense that once Diakite got booked he took him off so as not to get reduced to 10 men , we looked more organised at the back with Hill & Nelson very good. had chance with Mackie & SWP to win game .

I'd love to see what DJ could do if he was playing with them right now, he has good pace.
