Dawson, Samba, a striker & Beckham. Wouldn't say no
    Under Les Ferdinand:
Luke Freeman, top assists in the league: 4million
Alex Smithies, great goalie for this club: 3,5million
Charlie Austin, 19 Premier League goals: 4million
Jack Robinson: Contract ran out, left for free
    And many more mistakes

LES FERDINAND, IT'S TIME TO GO

When you read something like this article http://www.guardian.co.uk/football/b...itez-opposites seems like the atmosphere around the club has gone badly astray over the past year.

Harry rates professionalism and good attitude very highly so he likes players like Parker and Beckham and Dawson as talented but also great role models to foster a good atmosphere around a club especially for younger players to look up to.

I doubt Beckham would be a main target but players with good attitudes help keep the dressing room things ticking over in the right direction.

Getting a team to play as a team and take it seriously is half the battle.

Doesn't take Trevor Phillips to find changing the word 'dog' for 'monkey' in a well-known phrase a bit weird tbh.

Not saying you meant anything by it, but it was an unfortunate choice of word, given the context.

Not sure I follow but 'Monkey' is a derogatory term and the context a statement is meant can easily be misconstrued on the internet.

As I stated though, I assumed it didn't have racist connotations on reflection, it is though a far from sensible choice of words. You can see why someone might misconstrue the sentence?

well its a term my granddad a ww2 veteren used throught his life n taught me.....i can see now where it could possibly be turned into the old race issues once again and it certainly wasnt meant to be in that context...though the usual suspects on here jump on the bandwagon and stir up the bee's nest so im not surprised.....if my war hero grandfathers words have offended certain sections im sorry for you hurt!

So you understand how it could be misconstrued, but are ****ed off that a couple of people politely questioned it?

I never thought for a second you meant it that way btw

For what it's worth my grandparents said some hideously racist things by today's standards. Might be what made me a little sensitive to it, who knows?

                    Different time, different attitudes tbf.

also my dear old granddad who lived in east acton for over 50 years was loved by the jamaican family next door to him for over 30 years and they even had him in for dinner and drinks many many many times over the years....they wept at his funeral and showed great respect for him....he always greeted their little son with 'hello you cheeky little monkey' and then patted him on his head smiling...he used to love their kids..fixing their bikes and helping them with various little jobs...........never did those old school jamiacans ever call it a 'racist comment' not that it was ever ment in that context ...i think nowadays people looking for an excuse to stir the proverbial!!!

facto,it sounds like you are apologizng for absolutely nothing,i read your comment and it never crossed my mind that it could be deemed racist, you could have said Dog,Horse,Donkey, elephant anything tbh and somebody would look to make it something else, its a term that has been used for years and is nothing at all racist,it beggars belief that old english sayings like your grandads can be questioned like this,i'm with you me ole bean !!!

I thought it sounded racist when I read it but I believe you that it wasn't intentional. Matter closed. P.s my grandad was also a shocker for casual racism.

                              Aye, lets move on.

I wouldn't be against Beckham at the club in January on a short term deal, even if its just to lift morale.
