  • Zonal Marking-Corners

Hope one of the first things Rednapp does it end this system for corners and certainly not when Ferdinand plays. Worked ok until he came on then because he doesn't attack the ball well enough we find ourselves 2-1 down.

i don't understand how a center half cant defend a corner , if my memory is correct didn't he lose the header to terry back last year?

If you'd heard Bowen's recent interview he clearly stated we don't do zonal marking. We just defend badly.
Supporting QPR isn't just about a football team. It's about roots and identity.

Defending set pieces in general has been poor for quite some time, basics such as getting ahead of your man and staying goalside are regular 'fails'.

Defenders not jumping as well is another worrying sight, Fitz Hall was terrible for that, he always got caught under the ball. Another basic, reading the flight of the ball, that infuriates me about our defending.

Didn't hear that interview and if that's what he said then that is the problem as we clearly do. For the last few games we have set our best three headers of the ball up along the six yard line with everyone back and other players trying to pick up. Problem is your alleged best headers of the ball don't have any one to mark and are just required to attack the ball. Something our players with the exception of Nelson and Hill don't do.

I'd have One Size over Anton any day of the week. That not because Hall is good; it's because Ferdinand is so bad...

Hall is worse than Anton. Hands down. Anton had a decent game against Chelsea, its just the lad switches off far to often in games.

A handful of reasonable games in a year.... Directly responsible recently for two goals yesterday; goal against Reading; two against WBA; own goal against Southampton. Talentless liability. End of.

I'm not disagreeing with you regarding how poor Anton is, I just think Hall is a lot worse.

I'm sure our lads know the basics of how to defend. They'd never have got this far in their careers if they couldn't. The real problem IMO is that our defenders seem to switch off far too often. They're not alert, and that's something that can't really be coached.

We essentially agree over this race to the bottom. Only thing in Hall's favour was that he was injured so often he couldn't fu@k things up as often as Anton... :-)
