  • Just for the record...

Would any fan be unhappy with the appointment of Redknapp? I'm not asking if they have reservations/ worries (we all do) but whether on balance given the situation the board finds itself in, could it realistically have taken a better course (ie would it have made more sense to keep Hughes or should they have hired AN Other better manager who they could realistically afford/ attract)?

If so, plse state your objection now - its no good being wise after the event and then sounding all self-righteous about it.

Sorry to sound cynical but I've been on this board long enough to know that some of the very fans who will be celebrating the arrival of 'arry will be the very same ones saying "obviously it was wrong to gamble the club's future on him. Everyone knows he spends fortunes. For a club our size it was just mortgaging our future and setting ourselves up to be the new Portsmouth. Harry is a plum and Fernandes is clueless...." (repeat to fade).

For the record I'm cautiously optimistic and will continue to back our next manager until his position becomes completely untenable (I backed Hughes until the Southampton defeat for instance). How about you? This thread might be worth coming back to a month or so into the new manager's reign.

I will be happy if he is appointed until the end of the season
and saves us from relegation and can then b*gger off.
Keeping him long-term is a road to ruin IMHO.
Banning people is no longer my hobby,
but take a look at my photo blog:

How and why did I start supporting QPR in Estonia:

I am very satiesfied if should be Rednapp appointed our next manager. IMO, he matches the original soul of our club quite perfectly. If anyone can bring back the feelgood factor which used to surround QPR, it´s him.

We're getting a type of manager we love. HR is straight out of the same school as Warnock and Olly.
Supporting QPR isn't just about a football team. It's about roots and identity.

The ideal situation for me would be Harry to take us forward for the next 3 years, move onto the England job once everyone has worked out how sh*t Woy is with Clive or Sir Les taking over after we qualify for Europe!

Right now, I will be happy if we appoint Harry Redknapp as manager of Queen's Park Rangers.

I agree. Hopefully, he will not need to go out and spend another fortune in January. I think a CB (Dawson?) and another goalscorer may be all that's required. Granero Diakite Cisse Cesar Hoilett & Bosingwa etc have not suddenly become bad players. They have been out of form because of Hughes management and tactics.

                      Stainrod,

He can only spend what the board allow him to spend.

As a short term appointment I don't think we could ask for more - I reckon if he can keep us up this year and then have next season to see where he can take us. But in the longer term we need a younger man with modern methods. H is old school which might just kick some butt for now but we will stand still with the rest of the planned development! Mind you, if we go down we will do less than stand still, hence why I say good for the short term goal of getting a win and then out of the bottom 3 and ultimately survival.

Great appointment and the only man who could give us a fighting chance, but I guess Southampton fans thought the same and Portsmouth fans thought they would be in the PL forever........................
