  • Defensive Coach

Afternoon to one and all. I've been a Rangers fan for longer than I can remember, am a season ticket holder and have followed this site, which is superb, for years.

With all that is going on at the moment, regardless of the outcome I would love to see QPR get a proper defensive coach in to help steady our back 4.

Hughes uses the excuse of not being able to pick a consistent back 4 but surely if all the defenders in the club are coached properly, they could all be rotated when injuries/suspensions occur ?

My issue is that our full-backs are being coached as wingers and are therefore consistently out of position (Bosingwa virtaully lives in the final third of the pitch)

Just wondered if anyone else agreed and if so, who would you get in ? Personally, I'd get Tony Adams in.....I'm sure Harry Redknapp would have his number..!

I agree Adams as defence coach & Sir Les as a strikers coach would be a good move..

Nelsen aside we do not have a real defender in our starting back four, But Mr Hughes knew this last January when we bid for Samba he also knew in August when we bid for Dawson neither came so the problem has not been addressed and the buck should stop with the manager as he recognised it but has not fixed it.

I think what I like best - Is although it is noted that we need to tighten our defense. It doesn't #### it off, works around the issue of saying they are all useless...

To be fair, I don't think they are all useless. My main issue is the full backs dont know what they are doing. Our coach Mark Bowen was voted Norwich's best ever full back - says it all really.

We've got decent enough players but I do agree we needed to strengthen over the summer. Spurs fans I know are spitting over the fact Dawson isnt getting picked each week - we needed to spend on him and one other rather than add another 5 midfielders !!

Im not sure solely this is Sparky´s fault. Dawson refused to come due to our wagecap.

David Bardsley has said in the past that he would be interested in working for the club. He would be a great Defensive Coach. Bring Sinton back to work on the wingers, Gallen for the Strikers and Barker for the midfielders

                            .!
I think this is a big issue especially in Bosingwa's case, not many will agree with me but I don't think he is as bad as he has shown at times! I watched the dude with Chelsea and he looked like a solid if not spectacular defender! I think he is asked to play up the pitch as a Wingback and his lack of quality in his crosses and long range efforts at goal are really letting the team down! He is also getting caught upfield when I would prefer he stays back and defends more! This problem becomes worse because other than SWP or Park we really don't have a right sided wide player to use and more attacking width is expected of him! Once again this is down to coaching and in particular Hughes!
