  • Why I don't think we can stay up

Rome was not built in a day and any new manager coming in will not be able to do a thing until January regarding signing a striker and a centre half.

By that time we could be needing snookers. It is a much stronger league than last year, there are no Blackburns, Boltons and Wolves's - oh hang on, there is, US!

Reading are probably the next worst to us and they are by no means hopeless. I would not say one team was nailed on to go down, apart from us.

That is why a kneejerk reaction could dig an even deeper hole than we are in right now. Tony must meet with the players and decide if they are still behind Hughsey. If they are not, he must go. If they are, and I suspect this to be the case, then he stays, at least until Christmas.

I do agree that there's quite a high probability that bringing in a new manager may not save us from relegation. That's a big task at this stage and any potential candidate would be pointing that out to TF. Therein lies the dilemma; so much has been staked in MH and his team that ripping it out and starting off again with the likelihood of relegation anyway would not be a tempting prospect. And yet as has been pointed out the position of Hughes as manager is no longer tolerable. Rock, hard place.

A new manager in now, could win back the dressing room. Although we are aware that we lack players in certain posistions, the so called quality of players we have could help stabalize us until the transfer window opens.

It's not just a striker and centre half we need it's a completely new back four.
Other than Nelson and Hill so far this season there is nobody else that has shown effort or commitment to the cause at least those two can hold their heads high even though they are the oldest and not the quickest they at least show the professionalism and desire that the others lack.
Ferdinand... a slow as hell ballwatcher that could not tackle a crossword...when have you seen him put in a crunching tackle in his time with us ??? caught out time and time again one of our worst performers so far !!
Mbia... Obviously not a true defender and would be better used further up the field as his distribution is at least good but he looks slow and disinterested at times.
Fabio... headless chicken of a Left back that tries hard but is criminally caught out of position time and time again if somebody sorts him out he could be pretty useful
Traore...Please don't tell me this guy is quality because I have seen enough evidence that he is the biggest offender in the "Only Here For The Money" brigade...no effort whatsoever to chase back when we get caught on the break...what happened to him flying down the line and putting in quality crosses ? the last one i remember was away at Man City for Mackies goal...doesn't wanna play for us so hopefully first out of the door in January
Onouha...Another ballwatcher that lumbers around getting caught out frequently one of those players that has the odd solid game but when it happens it really is odd !! he tries at least I think his heart is in it.
Bosingwa...Was hoping for great things from this guy as he always looked composed on the ball but his head is totally somewhere else right now and his concentration and effort is the last few games has nosedived which puts him squarely in the mercenarie cashgrabber squad.
If we get a solid defence which wants to play for the club we have a chance at the moment with that bunch we are down and out !!

Forgot to add the keeper situation....can't say i'm overly impressed with Cesar he's let a couple of clangers go through his hands for goals and if that had happened to Rob Green everyone would be on his back by now....still think his arrival is where it all went wrong.....probably our top earner now and although I have seen a few wonder saves from him I would drop him and give Green another shot to prove his worth.

DO you not think Green showed hiw "worth" in the Swansea match.... flapped their first into the goal then after we got on top and dominated the 1st half he tried to punch 2 corners and messed them up completely and they fell to Swansea players in our 6 yd box.... one hit the bar and another just over.... could've been 0-3 at half time and all would've been his fault.

To be fair I don't think there's much between them as far as flapping goes ....both are great shot stoppers on their day and both are prone to the odd calamity now and then but with all the fanfare about Cesar and how he was the worlds best keeper I really can't see what all the fuss is about ...but with that defence in front of him he's always going to be exposed as will Green.

of course we can stay up, all we need is to get six more points than villa and reading, and five more than southampton over 26 games, hardly mission impossible.

It's clear that there is a rift between Mark Hughes and the players. Don't know who is at fault but Tony Fernandnes has to take a tough action asap.
