  • Getting rid of Hughes whilst avoiding a big payout

If he's refusing to resign and wants us to sack him and get a big payout, can't we just keep him (and entourage) as employees but tell them they should not come into work. We then get someone like Harry in as manager. We could ask Hughes and co to be stewards even?? Worst case scenrio is that we have to pay their monthly wage for next 3 years until their contracts are up but at least it will be monthly rather than 1 big lump sum. However, I also think that there is no way that Hughes will not want to get back into football. He loves being a manager and I reckon that in a few months he'll just resign.
Maybe we could even try that with Bosingwa? Love to see him as a steward.

You refer to Gardening leave if they are removed from roles but just do nothing, whilst on payroll.... was what happened to Olly.

If you make him do "menial" jobs, there would probably be a constructive dismissal case.... he isn't going to be toilet cleaner of food stall assistant.... would be amusing mind, although he'd probably organise the hot dogs wrong and you'd get a roll with a mars bar in it instead of a sausage.

            Contrived dismissal you mean?
Excellent, so they'd get contracts paid up plus further compo

            You need to be cute
You need to "restructure your business" doing away with some roles as cost cutting
Maybe a new position of Team Director is needed who oversees everything at the club, maybe a wise old head who can wheel and deal?
You know.... After losing your trusted mates, (sorry back room staff), having all power taken away in effect and no longer the go to man then all you have left is your lumpy salary. There's many a man with self respect that would walk away from that scenario

            Just saying like
I need some time in the sunshine, I gotta slow it right down.

Like saying, we employed you as a football manager but since we don't play football your position is now redundant?

There's no way around it he either accepts to go on his own accord or he says you will have to sack me

I dont know employment law but i think you can only put on garden leave and i agree hughes will want to get back onto management and says he hated being out work or words to the effect his wife hated him at home which im not surprised at but the wages would only extend until he finds a new job rather than the entire contract

Can you just put somebody on garden leave or do you have to have a reason. When Olly was put on garden leave it was supposedly because he had something to the press.

Didn't Paladini shaft him by giving permission to talk to Leicester when they showed interest, then stabbing him in the back and putting on Gardening leave for doing exactly that.... Saying he'd been talking with another club... or something like that?

You dont need to have a reason you dont even have to have a garden just pay them their wage and ask they stay away from the workplace.

Don't think we can do that with MH. Who would want to talk to him?
