I was going through my PC last night and came across a few MOTD clips and episodes I'd downloaded. More specifically, the wins vs Everton, Wolves and the draw vs Newcastle at home last season.
How bloody depressing were they to watch. Linkekar and co were absolutely raving about us - our attacking intent, our creative play, our willingness to go for it. What happened? How did we go to Goodison with a CB pairing of Gabbidon/Hall, and a midfield of Tommy Smith and Buzz giving service to Patrick bloody Agyemang, sneak a win and a clean sheet?!?
Why the hell did Motty keep describing SWP as "so dangerous, with so much pace to burn" and saying stuff like "QPR keep trying to get the ball to SWP" etc. He ripped Wolves to shreds that day.
Ultimately it comes down to the manager and his backroom staff. Ripping the heart out of the team, alienating good players - Luke Young and DJ Campbell, selling players we really shouldn't have - HH springs to mind.
As a QPR fan for the past 20+ years, I know we've had worse times. Relegation to L1. Vauxhall Motors. The difference is, back then, we had no hope. No money. Not a chance. The excitement of seeing Chris Kiwomya come on for his debut pretty much summed it up.
We've had so many positives over the past 24 months, and to see it all crumbling down before my eyes in the space of 12 games is heartbreaking.
Bringing in HR or someone else may or may not save us, but sticking with MH any longer will certainly be the end of us.
What a depressing Monday morning.
