Not posted on the subject because I really wanted to believe TF was right, personally I feel Hughes has made so many basic mistakes except one !
Mistakes:-
1, Pushing away players who could be useful:-
Green (Anyone can see he is not sitting on the bench thinking anything positive)
Young(Decent Right back, not a world beater but certainly one who could of made a difference)
Derry (Not used enough, experience around the team could of helped foreign players settle in better).
2, Poor back room team.
Maybe it is me but heard Bowen speak this week, if we are paying £3-6Million a year for a manager surely we could get a very good number two? Look at Ferguson, Redknapp even Hodgson. VERY strong people around them.
3,Build from the back.
Surely everyone knows the key to success is a strong back four then build? He had from the last day of the season until end of August to bring in quality defenders? Then in the last week of the transfer window it looked like we were scrambling around for centre half? Signing loan players like Fabio? Nelson is his best defensive signing !! Says it all.
4, Strikers?
We started the season with three on paper(Mackie gives us four). Simply not enough ! 3 of them do not look hungry. It does look like they are going through the paces. Personally I would of like one of them to be a young and upcoming player (Like a Rhodes). At least we would see desire !!
5, Age of the squad...
I did not feel we are giving young players a chance, he should of had young players who are pushing for places?
What did he get right?
Well he has a contract which I feel makes him unsackable. I honestly believe our only hope is Mr Hughes admits he can not do anymore and walks ! I think we go more chance of seeing the honey monster in the dugout.
I am however very pleased with our chairman, he never jumped too quickly to sack the manager. Maybe it is because of the contract ! Maybe it is because the guy Riggs is Hughes mate? Who knows !
