Don't understand this stuff about we can't afford to sack Hughes. Tony is in record as saying that if we get relegated, it won't affect the overall plan. If we have budgeted for relegation, I don't think a Hughes pay-off will be a problem.

Think about it laterally. If he fires Hughes, he pays off his contract, he has to pay to bring a new man in and he has to back him financially in January to give him a fighting chance. A lot of the deadwood will need to be offloaded and maybe a handful brought in. With Hughes in charge he sees it thus: Sell a couple, bring a couple in. A considerable fiscal difference.
