  • Warnock talking about QPR

Neil Warnock has told talkSPORT he believes QPR have ‘lost a bit of their soul’ under his successor Mark Hughes.

Warnock, now in charge at Leeds, was sacked by Rangers in January and replaced by Hughes, whose team are without a league win this season despite more heavy spending during the summer.

“It’s alright having good players but you’ve got to get them gelling and that’s not possible at the moment,” he said.

“I just think they’ve lost a little bit of the soul of the club with so many people coming from abroad, but that’s the manager’s choice.

“I felt three or four sensible signings would have been sufficient. I would have gone English to get that dressing room [together]. I thought it was a great dressing room.

“I suppose Mark has been used to foreign players and with the agents involved it’s easier to bring in foreign players but gelling them is a little bit more difficult, no matter how good they are.

“The results haven’t been good enough and they’ve got to turn it around because it would be a worry with the wage bill what it is now to carry on the second half of the season like they have done the first.”
Leeds United boss Neil Warnock says he believes QPR have 'lost a bit of their soul' under his successor Mark Hughes.

I agree with everything he's said there to be honest.

Well people might take it more serious if they knew what the loss was. Exactly how much are we losing then?
Supporting QPR isn't just about a football team. It's about roots and identity.

Warnock did sign British players, SWP, Ferdinand and Joey. Enough said.

Is this the same Neil Warnock who brought in Bothroyd to replace Helguson? And I've forgotten how many games without a win it was when he was eventually punted but I have not forgotten that it was a sorry run of form. His comments do ring true though.

With that said, NW was one of my favourite ever QPR managers but I do think that we would have gone down under him. He was unlucky in the way the summer went but he still made plenty of his own mistakes.

Respect to Warnock for getting us promoted he wouldn't have taken us any further, I think we would have gone down last season if he stayed. It's easy to say what might of happened under him, but we all wanted him out.

Reason I was glad to see him go is because of all the excuses, he made Hughes seem like Jesus Christ. It was always everyone else's fault under Warnock. He even started making excuses about the Leeds squad before he took over.

Leeds got pumped 6-1 last week, and now he's having shots at us? Sort your own house out first would be my advice.

I never wanted him gone. He got us promoted to the premier league with a squad which had no right to go up (Atkins is in a similar situation with Southampton both are victims of their own success had they stayed in the champ they would be both have been safe in their roles, get promoted and their on the verge of the sack)

It appears TF (who I support) has decided that Hughes will be backed and has the right to take us down. If anyone earned the right to remain in charge in the face of relegation it was Warnock

Hughes hasn't got us relegated yet though, I think as long as we win tomorrow the team morale goes sky high. Don't expect us to get anything at Old Trafford but I think we won't sit back as we have nothing to lose

Neither had Warnock when he was escorted out the premises. Warnock had double the points then Hughes and was deemd not good enough. Hughes clearly has a cunning plan which we are all not aware of or expectations at the club have somewhat slumped.

We could win tomorrow but then a defeat next week to the Man Utd puts us back where we were. What would have been morale boosting would have been coming out of the Reading, Stoke and Southampton games with 7 points I think that was a realistic target. At best now its going to be four but more then likely two and for a team desperate for points its simply not good enough

NW's record with us last season (note that I'll show the whole thing, not just the bit that shows he was struggling at the end):

LWLLDWDLDWLLWLDLLLDLLD (I've included his 2 cup games since I seem to remember it was that 1-1 draw to MK Dons that was the final straw)

In his last 9 matches we got 0 wins 3 draws and 6 losses.
In his last 8 league matches we got 0 wins 2 draws and 6 losses.
In his last 11 league matches we got 1 win 2 draws and 8 losses (that's only one point more than MH in his last 11 league matches).

We were headed only one way - DOWN.

If you want to compare NW and MH then they both have a few wins prior to their run of poor form. Total records are (both pretty miserable):
                            NW: 4 wins 5 draws 11 losses = 17 points = 0.85 points per game.
                            MH: 6 wins 6 draws 18 losses = 24 points = 0.80 points per game.

Don't think this will happen but how typical of us that we lose today and pick up our first win of the season at Old Trafford.
