  • Whatever is going on...

    IN TONY I TRUST.

I have total faith in TF and the board to make the right decisions. I think we have a brilliant board led by the best chairman in the business and will do whatever is right for the club.

Would you swap our board and chairman for anyone else? No, me neither.

Exactly, so we should all let them get on with it rather than telling them to sack Hughes or appoint x manager. Given all we know about them it is possible that they have/ are weighing up all the options and are basing their decisions on a bit more solid information than is available to us (eg the cost of removing the Hughes team, the cost and availability of Harry or AN Other, the mood of the dressing room, the progress/ lack of in training etc etc etc). If the board want us to back Hughes, I will; if at some point they decide enough is enough and they have a Plan B in place, I will then back their judgement.

Was thinking about this last night and while I'm not convinced about Hughes myself, I have faith in TF and have to back whatever he thinks is best. If he says Hughes is the right man, then I have to reluctantly accept this until further notice. It would be hypocritical of me to be a supporter of the chairman while not supporting his choices.

As you say, it's not just a question of sacking Hughes, there's lots of behind the scenes work required in such a decision.

Said this a couple of weeks ago, glad it's catching on. That said, I think Tony and Mark have clearly had a chat and there must be an agreement that if Sparky fails to beat Southampton he's gone.

Would be nice if it was mutual consent with no payoff.

You're right. Didn't notice TF saying anything like "have full confidence in Hughes" after last Saturday.

Not sure about that. Fernandes only said it was a "must win game" which is such an over-used phrase it means nothing. Lots of people, for instance, said Reading was "must win", we didn't win, and nothing much changed. If we don't beat Southampton then maybe Fernandes will snap, but Id be surprised and disappointed if he did so without having a better replacement lined up. As for pay offs, there is no honour in football - Hughes and all his cronies will be looking for every last penny they can squeeze out of us, which will directly impact on our transfer budget for Jan. Every decision comes at a cost.

Hughes himself has said he thinks he can still turn it around, but says it needs to happen on Saturday or there very well might not be another chance to set it right. Seems to respect Tony a lot, so I'm hoping he does decide to go without a payoff. Think he'd gain a lot of respect if he did.

Jurys out for me as its too early to tell how good a chairman he is. If he sticks with Hughes and we get relegated because of it then its down to him. Good chairman like any good businessmen must be prepared to recognize a mistake and rectify it with the least damage done to their business concerns. I am hoping TF hasnt put all his eggs in one basket with Hughes and that he will act if we are bottom 3 at Xmas (still a bit late if im honest imo). Just have to trust that Fernandes has already got someone in mind or lined up even but we just dont know do we ?

Stainrod, Hughes himself has said it's a must win game and he's not sure he'd get any more games.

3 points at home against Southampton shouldnt save Hughes or grant him more time, the damage has been done

It really doesnt bother me if we get relegated , we play in championship, so what? its not the end of the world, at least more matches, more wins, more fun , more real football and no stress. I think we just give a chance to our youth players now to get them having some experience. I tired of seeing old players collecting their mega wages every weekend.

I don't mind playing in the championship myself, we've done it for how long? My concern is, back to back relegations. Tony might have done his sums on one relegation, but what about two? I'm starting to get worried. If we go down and sell our best assets I think our squad is looking poor, and we've not got the youth set up to compensate.
