  • Rangers quoted £10m for Leeds hitman Beckford

QPR have been told they will have to pay £10million for a forward they could have had for £10,000 four years ago.

      That's rubbish. Headline grabbing nonsense.

He's out of contract at the end of the season, does anyone really believe that Leeds still lengthy list of creditors would allow them to turn down anything in excess of £2m when he will walk away for NOTHING at the end of the season???

Agreed - but it pretty much backs up what Bates said about Beckford a few weeks ago before these multi let's go get him threads appeared...........I'm not selling him and will take a risk on the fact his contract runs out at the end of this season.

Can we put all this to bed now as Beckford aint coming and never was, not because we won't spend money but because Bates won't sell him.

bet, he doesn;t go before the transfer window. Bates is not going to sell him for anywhere near 2 million.

have we actually put forward a cast iron offer though, or has there been lots of faffing and mincing around as per usual?

We said that Lee Cook was worth £10million, until Fulham put forward a concrete offer of £2.5m

If someone offered Bates £2m up front - no installments, no clauses etc. he would rip your hand off.

                  NO WAY!!!

You could buy 8 top class players for that amount...

I can't believe that everyone is so limited in thier vision that we can't see past players like Beckford, Cox and so on. There are so many great strikers out there that could be snapped up at a third of the cost of these so called league one stars. I'm not against us going for an unproven (in English Football) foreigner as the premier league is filled with such players that have come here and improved our leagues no end. Screw Beckford, lets go to some foreign top flight clubs (not f-ing Seria C) and raid their stars. Apart from Seria A, La Liga & the Bundesliga, the championship would be viewed as a step up in wages and opportunity.

No part exchanges, no "If we win the Champions League" clauses etc?

I think I know what you're saying Nodge!

                        report is incorrect.

it was Paladini and Waddock that didn't rate/want him at the time.
I need some time in the sunshine, I gotta slow it right down.

No, I know he was being looked at whilst Holloway was still at QPR.

Don't forget, IH also rejected Agogo a few seasons earlier, when QPR were in the 3rd tier. Agogo then joined Barnet and scored freely, before joining Bristol Rovers (?) and then Forest. He scored freely for all these teams.

2 seasons ago, IH gave Rueben Reid a free transfer from Plymouth and tried to buy him from Rotherham for Blackpool in the summer.

Holloway had him on trial first IIRC and then Waddock had another look.

Holloway also had, and played, Sidibe in a couple of pre season games before declining.
