  • 24 hours to reflect............

It was certainly not our worst performance this season and defensively we looked much better than we have done in recent weeks. But yet again we switched off for a second and gave ourselves a mountain to climb. Scoring 2 goals in a game is such a tall order for our team. We had some chances, but again we make the wrong decision. I have no idea what Hughes tells them to do, but Tarabat should have got at least one yesterday. It was good to see Faulrin back in the side and I thought he did well. I am not sure what position he put Granero in. He looked like he was playing wide at times, but for me should have been in the middle of the 3 behind Cisse. One thing is very noticeable when I watch us and other teams. Other teams flood the box with players when the ball is out wide. I look up so many times and we have hardly anyone in the box. It is as if the players want the guy who has the ball to always do some magic and to always score.

The fans were in good voice and deserve so much more than they are having to witness each week. I really can't see how much we would improve if Hughes was sacked. But he is an incredibly frustrating manager. His body language is awful. It appears he does not care and comes across as incredibly stubborn. He can't hold his hands up to mistakes. He does not change things which will have an impact on the game.

We desperately need a win from somewhere. I am certainly not enjoying going to Rangers these days. The players come across as very aloof and need to connect with the fans. The relationship with the fans and players is not good. The players need to start pulling their fingers. They need to change their body language and start getting some results on the board. It is becoming a very desperate time.
First game: Arsenal vs Queen's Park Rangers at Highbury, Saturday 17th November 1984.

    Good post, Hammersmith.

    Agreeing with you on every but one point and that is;
I really can't see how much we would improve if Hughes was sacked.
I believe we would improve a lot if a manager like Redknapp replaced MH. Did a splendid job a Spurs and the main argument I see around the web is that we'll head in the same direction as Pompey, but thats not possible around here - since it was a matter of various different owners who didn't care for the club. We've got that here.
If Owen Coyle or Mick McCarthy is the replacement, we'll definitely not improve.

Just realised that McCarthy's at Ipswich now. My bad.

chances created are missed....still poor defending
the pressure piles up ...27 games left and bottom is a fact.
i am proud of qpr and always will be, it's my team and i'll defend it,fight for it but will slate it....the passion is not there, there's not a leader on the pitch and none who are qpr, who care.

            Positives:
. We played a good style football
. We passed them off the park at times
. We created quite a lot of scoring opportunities
. Defenders were doing well until we conceded.
. The whole team was playing with confidence for most of the match
            . We dominated possession

            Negatives:
. We didn't take advantage of the goal scoring opportunities
. We didn't create enough chances, even though we had a lot
. The decision making at times from some of our players and even Sparky (not making subs when we needed it) was terrible
. Yet another silly defensive error caused us to go behind and then lose the match when we deserved to win it

In fact I'd say all of the above has summed us up pretty much all season. The point I've highlighted in bold is the main reason why we've failed to succeed so far this season.

We need a reaction, probably long term Hughes would be the man, but it is so important to at least attempt to stay in the league we need someone to mix it up a bit a get the team to put that extra 10% in to get a few wins.

Same as most other games missed good chances, lapse in concentration leading to conceding a goal & not a lot of luck.

I'm certain we will come good but same as many others its worrying every game passes and still no win.

Hughes will get it right I'm sure. Against Reading we missed 2-3 guilt edged chances, manager can't be blamed for that. If we had beat them we'd have gone to Stoke with more confidence than we did. One win away from turning it around.

I agree with all of this... although not sure how you can say in the same sentence "we didn't create enough chances, even though we had a lot".... a contradiction if ever there was.

Main positives was the unexpected dominance we had in the air. After Reading won pretty much every header, i thought Stoke with their team of big lumps would have a field day, but we did very well.... how ironic in the end it was a low ball Traore failed to deal with that cost us.

Also the play was at times excellent and we did create a lot of chances, and on another day could and maybe should've had at least 3 goals... not many teams can say that after playing away at Stoke who are very solid at home.

I took it to mean, we didn't create a lot of clear cut chances. Although we created a lot of half chances kind of thing.

Yeah maybe, but when you think back, we actually had a lot of very good chances, many of which could've been converted had Taarabt either swapped his slippers for boots before the game, or learned it's better to square the ball for a team mate to tap in sometimes.
