  • Mark Hughes: The most deluded man in football?

A quick glance at Tony Fernandes’s twitter bio sees the internationally renowned entrepreneur and Queens Park Rangers chairman describe himself as a dreamer. Scroll a little further down and you will find him once again urging QPR supporters for patience; the message: “keep calm, we will come good.” It will seem all too familiar to [...]

Good article from a non QPR bias view.

"Warnock had 17 points when he was axed in January" was part of one of the comments at the end of the article. I wonder if 18 will save him?

I don't know if he is deluded or just arrogant. He certainly seems to have a big opinion of himself which isn't backed up by the facts.

Thats what I was trying to get across in my ' Emperors new clothes ' thread the other day ........
"Steve, do you think 25k is a good option when there are indications that within four years, new stadiums on average have increased attendances of 60%?
For us that would mean around 29k."

The more I look at the facts, the more I'm coming to the conclusion that Hughes has to go now. I was prepared to give him until after the Villa game and see where we are then, but we're running out of time. Mark Hughes's own history suggests he won't be able to turn this around. I hope I'm wrong but I can't see it.

Another depressing read! Like many here I am hoping Hughes can turn it around real soon but after the Reading result and reading some of his past history I think it's doubtful! One thing almost everyone agrees on is that he is dour!

Have to agree and hope now for his sake and the clubs that we can get a few wins on the bounce.

Last year on the 1st Jan we had played 19, won 4, drawn 5 and lost 10. Points 17.

We need 20+ points this year by that time, and no reason why the board shouldn't be having words with him. We have a better squad this year and as a result should have more points on the table.

But some on this board still calls us " muppets" for wanting Hughes out,I say they are in fact the muppets!

                      blasphemy by non believers.....

it's what i and many have already said. mr hughes may have been a very good footballer and they usually don't make good managers, he's had huge sums of cash at most clubs for no return.
we want stability at the club, yes...but we want wins too and that's the game we're in, a results business.
i think paying him and his back room staff would be too much, we are possibly stuck with him cos of the finances and the impact a new boss would have ( new signings..would he want changes to academy?? etc)
the GAMBLE is on, and it's high stakes to stay on 16, when the bankers is showing an ace with a card to turn over.

I was thinking along the same lines until a few games ago. The more time he gets the less a new manager will get to avoid relegation.

In 28 games in charge he has won 6 and lost 16 a loss percentage of 57%. He has spent upwards of £30M since taking over.

Looking back at his 'achievements' it is hard to see how things will get better. He had some very good players at Man City but a run of 2 wins from 11 was dreadful.

The QPR squad is worse than the ones he had at City and arguably Fulham so the signs are not good.

i agree with the point about this possibly being his last Premier League one for a while. Surely no one else will have faith in him if he fails at QPR?

There are some who believe he should be given the whole season, regardless of what happens, and it's even been said he should be given the opportunity to lead us back to the prem should we go down!

Still, everyone's entitled to their opinion.

I have more charisma in my big toe nail than Hughes. And my big toe nail fell off after playing sport recently. I just don't see him as any sort of 'leader'.
