  • Quick Hello

Just joined the board tonight after a couple of years of reading avidly.
Posted in 'spare tickets' thread so I think it would be bad manners not to introduce myself.
The names jonathan (flamingdove a Bowie reference, another passion of mine) A Ladbroke Grove/Portobello boy of 48 years young.
An R since mid 70s when if memory serves it was 50p to get in the loft but often a pound as punishment for running on the pitch the previous game? A pretty regular supporter through teenage years, twenties and thirties. With many fond memories that will always be mine to keep....that goal from the halfway line at stamford bridge in the milk cup quarter final....opening game of season the emphatic win at upton park featuring Parker and Coneys debuts sitting next to my west ham best mate....sweet. Bardsleys thunderbolt freekicks (which we would all call for , kind of giving the game away)...Clive Wilsons majestic play. Stevie Wicks, MACCA. Ian Stewart, Ian Dawes, .......Stainrod and Rangers in Europe at Highbury. Dazzling displays by Trevor and Ray far outshining their managerial efforts.
Leaving loftus road with more money than I went in with....having backed Les to score :-). Tony Roberts amazing display in goal at Brentford for Stan Bowles testimonial......going to pick up my girlfriend from her christmas do in a piccadilly wine bar and finding her getting chatted up by Kenny Sansom who was a ranger at the time....most chuffed! ha ha !! Any way Im waffling and this was supposed to be a 'quick' hello!
My love of QPR was taken to a new level when my mother Zena may she rest in peace met and married Alan Barnes who in my opinion is Mr QPR and those of you who may know him I doubt would disagree. It was very heart warming for both of us when the QPR website saw fit to make mention of my mothers passing and I will be eternally grateful for this and the wonderful memories I have to keep and cherish. My son though only 8 is a passionate fan, we live in Worthing just now so games are somewhat of a special and rare treat.... I hope he is rewarded for his steadfast support with as many great memories as I have been blessed with.

    Cheers all
    Rangers Till I Die

Yes, welcome! Your memory is better than mine on the price of entry into the loft. I know you didn't need a ticket beforehand though, except for the big matches! (Yes, we had a few of those back then!)

Tis true.....was more comical than skillful but I think is was perhaps never having laughed so hard that makes it such a fond memory.

Another one on the funny list has to be the look on Neville Southalls face when when he looked down having caught the ball and realised he was a foot outside the box!! got sent off, harsh but hysterical
