Would love to see him come in and do some work on our defence, even on a short term part time contract.

I'm afraid Fernandes is in total denial - his most recent pronouncement indicates this - and that means he is unlikely to hire since doing so is an admission of the chaos. Besides, team Hughes wouldn't buy it, and apparently the sun still shines out of Sparky's backside. We need to face the fact that TF was stitched up good and proper by Team Hughes (aka KJ) and isn't ready to admit it.
All in all it might be better if we go from bad to worse, because its the only way we're going to get shot of Sparky. And that is the only chance we have of avoiding relegation.

Hughes strikes me as an arrogant individual who wil never admit to being wrong. Everyone knows we have serious defensive problems, yet carries on doing the same old same old, week after week. Seems clear to me that our defensive coaching is poor and the blame for that must be Bowen, and ultimately, Hughes.
Hughes is going to have to bite the bullet and either get Bowen doing the job he's paid to do, or get another defensive coach in. Gary Neville is a UEFA A qualified coach, an England coach, and won everything at domestic level. He will come not only with top qualifications, but will command a lot of respect, something which I'm not sure Bowen has.
Whether we could get him or not is another matter, but then, I never thought we'd sign players like Cesar, Bosingwa or Granero.Supporting QPR isn't just about a football team. It's about roots and identity.

Hated the bloke as a player & was expecting to do so as a pundit also, massively impressed with his knowledge of the game and un-biased opinions, even on Utd. Dont know anybody that doesnt like him as a pundit.
As you say, no way would he be in a position to take up a coaching role at a club though. You should never underestimate the predictability of stupidity.
