  • Granero and Free Kicks

Why do everytime we get a free kick around the area let Granero take it to shoot wide or over? Yes he had that one which hit the bar with a world class save. That is 1 out of 10. The rest always just fly over or wide. You just know it will happen and sure enough it does.

Adel 2 or 3 times fancied them yesterday but got moved on. I could understand if Granero had popped one in but he always misses the target. Baffling.

to be fair Adel is probably even worse than Granero imo Sammy. Actually all of our set pieces have been poor last couple of seasons.

Bar his goal against Spurs, Adel's FK's and corners have been shocking. Yesterday Granero was denied by one great save, had a 2nd just wide of the post with keeper nowhere so not surprised he took the 3rd when Adel was in his face.

Apart from the Spurs goal last year ( which was more down to keeper error than a top corner special !!) Adels delivery at corners , free kicks and set pieces has been S hite !!

C hrist knows how many corners he took last year that failed to even clear the first man !!!!

I'm more than happy for the pirate to stay on set pieces watch !!

          Agree.
As the saying goes, practice makes perfect and QPR’s players need to practice these a lot more than they do. I think Beckham Bergkamp Carlos Harte and ‘specialists’ did or still do.

To be fair, Granero was close with two out of three yesterday, but Taarabt has score twice in 3 and a bit seasons at Derby and last season against Spurs with about 50 attempts.

I will add that different types of free kicks should be practiced. the free kick can be treated as an indirect one and pass it to Cisse to drive it through

Well he was learning from one of the worlds best at Madrid (Ronaldo), and to be fair even he misses most of the freekicks he takes. You either hit them perfectly or you will mess it up completely with Ronaldo's style. Granero's is a bit different in the run-up but the way he strikes the ball is very similar. Anyway, as far as I'm concerned, he's our best set-piece taker at the club along with Faurlin. Taarabt's set pieces (especially corners) are poor, he just floats them in and it rarely goes to anyone.

Adel's free kicks last season were pretty poor - but he's scored some great ones in the past when down in the champ, and his deliveries have been accurate. A good free kick in the PL and the Champ is the same, no keeper saves a great one.
Adel is good at deliveries but to be honest we don't have many good people to get on the end of them anyway...

                    Granero too is pretty decent.

but like SuperHoopNik says - ronaldo's conversion rate isn't exactly 100%...you just hear about the good ones.

Adel took free kicks and corners last year and the huge majority were awful, having said that never hurts to mix it occasionally keep em guessing

love taarabt, but granero should be the taker.

Shoud share the fk's. Mix it up a bit. Granero decent but to predictable. Adel deserves at least one in a game to show what he can do.
