I think the big learning curve from Hughes whatever the outcome is that it was a mistake to link everything behind the scenes to him and I think this is the major handcuff which has prevented TF making a decision on him because if Hughes goes the chances are all the infrastructure (Rigg + youth etc) goes too and its going to cost a fortune.
Yes any manager should be able to choose his coaches etc who work with him on a day to day basis but scouting and youth development should be kept totally separate as it’s not sensible to keep changing this every time you change the management structure. Any manager coming in should be made aware you work with the youth structure etc in place as that is long term (managers in the main are short to medium term)
Makes things cleaner in my view and makes situations which we are currently in easier to resolve/get out of
