  • Cesar's goalkicks

Some of them don't even reach the half-way line. And the ones that do, we always seem to lose the ball. Saw it against Arsenal, saw it again today.

Far far more concerning issues than his goal kicks .
You should never underestimate the predictability of stupidity.

I made it the 83rd minute before we won a header from a set piece on our box. Embarrassing .

What a weird thing to focus on at this point.

Indeed a very weird thing to focus on.

Why is it weird? It's called losing possession. You and Matty probably have a simplistic view that "just get the ball in the box" and score, the reality is, there are many areas of improvements that all contribute, and not constantly losing possession from your own goalkicks is one. I counted about 6 times in a row against Arsenal when we took a goalkick, and lost the ball immediately, and Arsenal got possession again.

Then the issue is who receives the ball, not the distance of his kicks.

What's the length of the kick got to do with that?

The players aren't glued to an area the other side of the half way line. They know what length he has (oo-er obviously), so should be stood in the right place.

                        Not the keeper's fault

Rarely? What rubbish. No one is saying you win it 100%, no one is even saying you win it 50%. But you do expect to not be gaining possession 10%.

Of course the length matters. If you're kicking it only to the halfway line and lose possession, then the other team can come straight back at you in a dangerous position. That is why goalkicks are always in the other teams half.

Wasn't Zamora's cross from Cisse all started from a nice pass from Cesar down the wing?
