  • QPR revisit Samba swoop

QPR hope it is third time lucky as they plot a move for Chris Samba in the January transfer window.

Twice in January and summer they had eyes on the central defender who was only too willing to throw his lot in with Hoops – and twice the Congo international escaped their clutches.

Eventually, Samba joined Russia’s moneybags Anzhi Makhachkala for a fee reported to be around £10 million.

But Chronicle sport understands Rangers and Samba have maintained contact, and although his £100,000-a-week wages would be as big an issue as his transfer fee, time is running out for a porous Hoops defence with only one Premier League clean sheet.

The other hurdle needing a clearance could depend on Liverpool doing Rangers a favour.

If they beat Anzhi in next week’s trip to Russia in the Europa League, Samba and his team-mates face elimination that would ease a cut-price deal for a player brought to England by Rs boss Mark Hughes in 2007, and already the victim of racist abuse in a Russian league game back in March.

Please let us get him. Dont fancy the 100k a week wages mind, but pretty sure TF isnt going to blow that sort of dough on him. Absolute monster of a centre half though.
You should never underestimate the predictability of stupidity.

Might as well go for it in next transfer window, get Samba in and the best striker we can get our hands on.

As I've said before- pretty sure either him, Dawson or Zuma will be bought in Jan.

Samba and M'Bia at CB is a nice prospect.

They wouldn't offer anyone that money, but there are ways to make it work, which are in the club's interest also.... ie incentives, bonuses. you could give someon like Samba a big bonus for clean sheets etc. Yes it would cost us more, but it means points are in the bank also, which is the name of the game.

Samba will not be targeted by QPR in January , according to boss Mark Hughes

The former Manchester City chief has denied that he is looking to sign Samba and insists that he could not afford to buy him.
Hughes said: "I haven't seen that. I don't like to talk about it. I'm not sure where that came from.
"He's at a club where he's paid a substantial amount of money to work hard. And that takes us out of the equation in terms of what we can do."

Can see him coming to us if MH can get some wins by Jan but going to struggle getting anyone decent if a looming relegation battle happens

If we put in a bid that was accepted by them, I think he would take a cut in his wages to play in the Prem League.
From what I have read, he has had a lot of racial abuse aimed at him over there, and its the Russian League (Not really a Step Forward). He signs or goes on loan to QPR, Puts in performances every week there will be plenty knockin at his door in the summer (If not before!!!)

Well, if we sign Samba or Dawson or any other CB, who's going to get dropped from the current CB group?
Supporting QPR isn't just about a football team. It's about roots and identity.

I think Samba is willing for a wage cut at the expense of racism in Russia.
                            QPR fan since1987
