As soon as he heard about the incident, he flew to Java. He immediately arranged for relatives to be flown out there and arranged hotels for them. He met most of the relatives as they got off the plane and is making regular announcements to them to explain what is happening.

I do not think any other chairman of an airline has ever done this. The main complaint about the first Malaysian Airline crash was the lack of information. I know that often there is nothing to say, but relatives like to be informed of what is going on.

I don't need help with that, trust me. Just containing myself while we enjoy this festive spell outside the relegation zone.
Banning people is no longer my hobby,
but take a look at my photo blog:

How and why did I start supporting QPR in Estonia:

As for relegation we are in a much better position now than a couple of seasons ago, so things are getting better slowly.

There is no way this will affect Tony financially as Airlines have insurances which they pay massive premiums for.

The only way it might affect him is his net worth as the Air Asia stocks fell quite a lot overnight as you would expect, but this is virtual worth anyway. Therefore means nothing unless he is planning on selling the airline which doesn't seem likely as he has turned it round from a loss making enterprise into Asia's largest budget airline, which has a huge market.

It was a tragic event which Tony will genuinely feel sorry for but let's not get it out of proportion, it has absolutely nothing to do with how he runs businesses or football clubs.

The only correction to the cat's excellent post is The World's largest and most lucrative budget airline, not bad for a nominal $1.00 outlay

I found this article in the NY Times which I found very interesting.

The actions of Tony Fernandes, the chief executive of the Malaysian company, have been compared favorably to the response of Malaysia Airlines earlier in 2014.

Why is anybody paying any attention whatsoever to this totally unsubstantiated $hit disturbing?

acricketer, either back this up or hang your head in shame.

One thing im thinking about is whether tony can be contacted and sanction any transfers this month while they are still fishing bodies out of the sea. I mean is it even on his mind at the moment or would it look a bit callous and heartless buying ten million pound players when so many people lost their lives on his airplane?

The other board members will deal with it I'd guess.
Supporting QPR isn't just about a football team. It's about roots and identity.

I can see that, but its still a 'tonys heartache is over as he spends six million on an ex spurs old boy' headline for the gutter press here and all over asia.

F*ck what the media say. Tony has serious things to deal with. Our press is shameful as the hacking inquiry showed.
