I think some people are beginning to get on JMs back a little, buit is it really down to him that we havent picked up the points? OK, some of the players maybe in the wrong positions, which is ludicrous for any manager to do - but which of our recent managers hasnt done this? So far we have played pretty good football - and i think most of the time he is honest in his opinions of the game and our performances - unliek Sousa who would priase us, no matter how crap we were. I think its simply down to us being one or 2 players short - not entirely JM. I think he will actually make us do well, but without a striker - even Alex Ferguson couldnt do anything

We all know what is best......Know your best starting 11 and stick with it; Play a 4-4-2 either with or without conventional wingers; Do not play players out of position; If a player is out of form then he should be dropped to the bench but this should be decided over a duration of games as it does nothing for players confidence to drop him for no justifiable reason.
In the days of Gerry Francis in the PL I see the same team week in week out, we played the same way all the time and it worked. Even the likes of Holloway knew his team and he stuck with it and got results. I'm fully aware this early days but what I'm seeing with team selection so far is echoing everything I have heard Ipswich fans say.
Why oh why is JM dismantling our defence it is the only thing we have what works properly.Last edited by W12_Ranger; 20-08-2009, 10:10 AM.

Couldn't agree more. I would have thought that in the modern age of technology you could easily view hours and hours of footage of the players to determine a players best position if you were unsure of what it is. I would have also thought that you could ask your players what they thought were their strengths/weaknesses were and where the thought they played best. Would a right footed central midfielder say his best position is on the left hand side?
There are endless football websites with stats, reviews etc which would show that with Gorkss and Connolly in the centre of defence we conceded fewer than when either Hall or Stewart played. Within in minutes of searching the net you can find that with Mahon and Leigertwood in the centre together we score fewer goals than when either plays with a more attacking midfielder.
Find out or work out during pre season what your best XI is/was and stick with it if its working. Only tweak when its failing. Our defensive was solid last year and with Gorkss and Connolly you have two very good passers of the ball who retain possesion for you. With Hall and Stewart they give possesion away far too regularly. Attack starts from defence and defence starts from attack. If you pick strikers who won't defend or defenders who give the ball to the opposition you not only can't score without the ball but you will also concede goals as a result.

Well i said at the start that I did not think jim was right for QPR as we needed someone with experience like Sven......
BUT
That is no way a dig at him, I think he is a good manager and could one day make it, but I just can't see that happening at QPR sadly....

I know this is not going to go down well but lets put this in contrast - We have lost 1 game at the moment. I will be as sick as most on here if we are in the same points position after 5 more games. Its the start of the season.
We can see results in other divisions arent following the form book. I hate Man U like the next person but they had a hatful of chances and couldnt convert them (and they have recognised strikers) - Are you telling me once they are up and running they wont kill off Burnley??
We need patience but we are QPR supporters and I think we dont expect to lose! Yes we do need a striker, Im not denying that for one minute from what ive seen so far we need someone who finish, and yes this should have been sorted out in the close season, As the report from Tuesdays night game said from SM that someone is due a tonking soon!
Im sure we will get there but we need to just keep patient, as Ive said im expecting to get a few comments back on this and probably not many compliments!
Thats my 2 pence worth anyhow!

All managers have their favourites nothing new there ...tough job being a manager if you asked 10 messageboard users for our best team you'd get 10 different answers ...we never find out the truth for all we know the likes of Gorkks, Connolly and Helguson clould all have been carrying minor knocks the other night.
I have no doubt that we have been told to play Taarabt when fit otherwise there would be no point in sending him here ...he might as well have stayed in the stiffs at Spurs.
Personally I think we should be looking at who assembled this squad of little attacking options and top heavy on midfielders ...and that would be the Director of Football ...wouldn't it?
Instead of continually changing managers why don't we try changing the Director of Football for a change? ...I reckon we should get someone in with experience in the game to be Director of Football ...an ex-player ...someone like Venables/Gerry Francis would do a good job in that role

Shame it wont get any support from the puppets on this board.QBP 20th August 2009..."To be fair, I'm glad we are top of the table (for agents fees). Shows we are not a selling club anymore."

I am not worried about the points so far.
Compared to last season QPR have the same amount from 2 away games, and 2 less from the 1 home game. Had Helgusson and Vine not missed sitters we would be on the same as last season.
However, I am concerned that JM doesn't seem to know that Connolly and Gorkks are his best centre halves and keep the ball better or that he doesn't want to pick them.
Likewise, his decision to play Buzsaky on the wing and Taarabt in a central role also is a concern for me. Buzsaky is a far more clinical and composed finisher than Taarabt.
If JM can resolve these problems, I think we will all see a much improved season with more entertainment, goals scored, and points.
