  • Hughes has ONE more game to save his job (Mirror)

Under-fire Sparky will see his struggling Hoops take on Reading next Saturday – and it's turned into a win-or-bust clash for the Rangers boss

The under-pressure Welshman faces a make-or-break game with Reading next Sunday which could decide his fate.

QPR chairman Tony Fernandes has publicly backed him, but Hughes accepts results must improve after a controversial 1-0 defeat at Arsenal left them rooted to the bottom of the table.

Fernandes and the board met with the manager last week and their biggest concern is that they do not want to be cut adrift. *Fernandes still passionately believes in Hughes, but QPR desperately need a win – and soon.

The owner knows relegation would be a financial disaster, and other members of the board are aware that former Tottenham boss Harry Redknapp is available.

Hughes insisted after the Arsenal game that Fernandes – who was at the Emirates – is behind him and they will turn it round.

    Well this is the Mirror, and they are not too reliable. I am sticking with what I've been told by a reliable source;
Hughes must WIN the next two home games against Reading and Southampton.
I was told that he had to get 7 points from 3 home games starting from the Everton game, so we have 1 pt on board already.

They both have 1 trophy to their names as managers.... The only difference is Harry did it by crippling Pompey in conjunction with the chairman by spending way beyond their means. The club is now effectively ruined... Hardly a legacy.

Harry has only done anything including getting 4th with ludicrous spending. And don't say MH has because he hasn't, most of our signings have been frees.

I personally done want Harry anywhere near QPR.

say what you like about Harry but at least he has some ability to motivate people, which MH clearly doesn't

The simple fact is that there will be discussions in the background already going on in case they decide to go in a different direction. The club will be looking for options should MH not turn it around.

more speculation I suspect. Kind of lacked a bit of credibility when it said the game was next Saturday.

                  This.

The article was probably written last week and was included as soon as we lost. Nothing has changed since last week, we were never expected to get a result at Arsenal.

Hughes will be with us for the long term.

First thing he'd probably do is drop Adel, and sell him in Jan

You cannot make a statment like that. Managing a premier league team is a results industry, like sales. If you don't sell anything, no matter how close you get, you lose your job eventually. If we have not won any game by Christmas - do you think he will still be with us for the long term. He won't, he will go before the window.

However, if he turns it round then great.

Who are you to tell me what statement I can and cannot make?

Do you honestly believe we won't win a game before Christmas?

TF has backed him week after week, has said it's a long term project countless times, invested millions in Hughes, Hughes' backroom staff , Hughes' squad and bought into Hughes' plans for the club.

TF is almost in a position where he can't sack him.

We won't go down, we'll scrape enough points together and will stumble through the season, but Hughes won't go.

I understand your reasoning, but the managerial history of QPR suggests MH will be gone before December unless we get a couple of wins soon.

If his teams start well , they look good, but when they go behind, or if things go wrong he has no ability to change things and comes across pretty clueless without a plan B.

As for motivation, if he was in fact so good at motivating players, as is perceived, then Spurs wouldn't have gone on a shocker for about 3 months last season after Christmas and thrown away a massive points advantage over Arseanal and finish 4th.

He had a ridiculously large backroom staff and loads of coaches with him also, so how much of the good work was actually down to him... nobody will really know.

One question though is if he is so good, then why did Levy give him the boot.
