  • This Squad Can't Compete At Premiership Level

Writing this after trudging away from the emirates surrounded with smug gooners laughing at us and the situation we are in..."they're down now"....."Hughes aint a manager"....."every game they get someone sent off knew it was coming"....."Glad We Got Rid Of Traore He's Crap"...were just a few of the comments i overheard as they laughed at our plight and now i tend to agree with them. We can't compete at this level with this band of last chance saloon has been players ...SWP and Zamora should have dropped a division 2 seasons ago but here they are getting a game every week being paid inflated wages and giving very little in return....Park has long lost his mojo and we did not miss him at all out there today....Cisse has been on the bench too long and appears to have lost his hunger for this and the only time we looked a threat believe it or not was when Mackie came on and whether you class the guy or not he runs at players directly.... sometimes he gets through and sometimes he fails annoyingly BUT he frightened the life out of their back four when he came on and was the only ray of hope we had in the dying minutes. Granero tries hard and gets stuck in but is always missing the final killer pass ....Tarbs is always hot and cold and loses possesion way too easily then rolls around looking for a free kick....Hoilett just seems so slow at times but puts in a shift...Diakite for the first 15 mins was skipping through challenges for fun but after that you never saw much of him until the final 15 minutes when he is tired and the ridiculous challenges start happening....Mbia was just stupid but I don't blame him for losing us the game we were toothless for large parts of the game and still look wobbly at the back even without the awful Ferdinand !!.
I fear for us now as I can't even see us getting points against Reading by which time i expect Hughes will be shown the door and whoever comes in has to spend what cash we have available wisely and drop the aged legs that are here purely for the cash....but will the next manager get any more out of this bunch ??...having said all this we still should have got a draw !!! gutted yet again.

Traore is a good player, Tarbs hardly lost the ball today, but I agree with the other points, Mackie should start ahead of SWP.

All that was.. them trying to make themselves feel better about their own team.

Still couldn't beat us without the Ref giving them a hand.

      Traore is a class player.

dont agree with the op. my frustration this season is other than against swansea and first half against west ham i think we have competed. we just haven't competed quite well enough. but we aren't like, say, wolves last season who just looked a bunch of carthorses. make no mistake if we go down most of those players will find work in the prem again or in top leagues abroad. other than at centre half where ive been crying out for a top player for as long as i can remember our squad compares very favourably with half a dozen others at least. something just isn't quite clicking and none of us know what it is.

We are exactly like Wolves last season !! except we have an elephants graveyard of well known names instead of a team of never Beens....I would rather be Norwich now who have a team devoid of big time Charlie's that get stuck in instead of an injury prone team of past it geriatrics ...Traore is young compared to the rest but we'll be lucky if he makes 15 games this season !!

really? i thought we easily did enough to get a point away to a*senal today. had m'bia had half a brain, or mackie a bit more composure we would have got something today - away to a*senal.

            we got something against everton.

we outplayed spurs at their place in the first half.

we scared made the current league champions work damn hard for their points on their own turf.

we clearly can compete at this level.

in reality, we were unlucky against swansea although we were very lucky against norwich. we got lucky with some refereeing decisions against scum but shouldn't have let wet spam bully us.

i honestly reckon that one win will steady the ship and we won't look back after that... there are at least three teams who are going to struggle all season to put together a run of wins.

You young man is exactly what we don't need at this moment, complete and utter nonsense that will brain wash some of our younger fans into a hughes out campaign. Reading your original post is exactly why you shouldn't post when all tense and wound up after leaving the ground. I would give u an even bet of 500 pounds that this side stays up. Arsenal r an average side and we were poor today but our season isn't decided at the emirates. I watched villa tonight and my god they are awful. If u were a villa fan I would of accepted that op. Ok go out let your hair down and find a nice girl. U really need to unwind.
I played sunday league football today.

Clearly I was the best player on the pitch.

I scored 5 and made 7 last ditch tackles.

We lost 5-0 but the rest of my team were sh it!

Come back to this post in 3 games time and tell me I am wrong in my original post ...I have followed Rangers since 67 and this is the worst start to a season that even i can remember and believe me over the years I have left grounds way more wound up than i was today and probably long before you were born son !! The first post was never about starting a get Hughes out campaign as I have nothing against the guy ...I was noting not just what I saw today but what I have seen so far this season which is a team of overpaid tired legs....stand up tall now and tell me SWP and Bobby Zamora are what we need to get us out of trouble ??? ....we were not poor today we were playing to our limit as we have every game so far and at the end of the day we are not taking the odd chance we get ,we played ok but were hardly a threat until it was too late were we ??
the next 3 games are crucial to our season and are the most winnable games...if you were there today and witnessed the game first hand I doubt the next 3 games would instill you with confidence....as for the quote about finding a nice girl...how much of a mug do you feel now ?? I on the other hand don't do knee jerk reactions to posts ;)

We have a Frankenstein of a squad. A dead thing that moves. Dead being the operative word.

Yes we do compete at this level but winning games with the current squad we have at our disposal at this level is another matter altogether. For 2 seasons now the discipline under the current regime is atrocious any chance we had yesterday of grinding out a well fought point was thrown away yet again by a moment of stupidity by m'bia but I don't blame him for losing us the game that defence is godawful under pressure and we can only thank the keeper for keeping the goal difference down !

Im with you. Sounds stupid as we are rock bottom at the moment, but I am adament we will not go down.

Come on, let's face it, any of us who were at the Emirates yesterday couldn't claim they saw us playing a 'Champions league' side in ArseAnal.
That ArseAnal team I saw us compete, yes COMPETE, against yesterday, is mid-table at best.
Let the Buffoons who follow ArseAnal delude themselves that they are that much better than us, because when all is said and done, it had to take us going down to 10 men, a huge slice of the luck we never seem to get, and a blatantly offside goal, before the 'mighty' ArseAnal could nick all three points.
