Long term reader of the forum, now first time poster after deciding to take the plunge into the dark world of QPR forums.
I wanted my first post to not just be another 'Hi All' type post so i thought i'd try gets some thoughts on the XI from yesterday!
I personally thought that it was the strongest team sheet that we've put out all season but not necessarily in the correct positions. In the middle of the pitch the muscle and defensive work of Diakite worked really well alongside Granero (who I thought again was our best player alongside Junior). Even the defence did really well i thought, just from set pieces it was a calamity. But that can be sorted out with hard work on the training pitch, which is where it seems a fair bit of work has been done over the 2 week break.
My only REAL gripe would be that Cisse & Zamora are not going to play together in the same team this season. Together last year they looked like they complimented each other well and obviously scored goals, which we desperately need this year. Hughes has a system going and fair play to him for sticking with his philosophy but surely even playing Cisse in a similar way to in which Hughes uses Hoilett would be more beneficial to the attacking threat of the team by cutting in off the flanks as more of an Inside Forward and using his pace to terrify the defence?
I think that this XI could work really well going forward but would obviously involve dropping captain Park who although hasn't lived up to his Utd form, has been a very stable performer in the team.
ST: Zamora
LW: Hoilett RW:Cisse
CAM: Taarabt
CM: Granero DMC: Diakite
LB:Traore CB:Nelson CB:M'Bia RB:Bosingwa
GK: Cesar
Thoughts? Hate Mail? Handshakes?
