According to a study conducted by the "Fink Tank" in The Times. It studied how many passes every player in the league has made and Mackie made the fewest. With him, in fairness, I'm not sure whether it is purely selfishness and how much of it is more like hopelessness. So it wasn't clear for instance whether this was because he attempted the fewest passes or completed the fewest passes. But it was also noticeable that whereas most of the other "selfish" players listed were top goal-scorers such as Defoe (so to some extent their failure to pass was justified), while Mackie has v few goals or assists to his name in the Prem. Anyway, it more than supports the view that Mackie, for all his endeavour, runs into blind alleys with his head down rather than looking up and seeing when to make the pass. A shame because if he could do that he cd potentially have a future as a Prem player, but until he learns to do that - perhaps by learning better control of the ball so he is not constantly worried about losing it - he is never going to amount to a top flight player imho.

Play a striker as a wide midfielder and he'll get frustrated, try and take on defenders, never pass and will try and prove that he is capable upfront. This is Jamie Mackie."When you went to the corner and saw our fans celebrating the way they were you just wanted to be part of it" - Shaun Derry after we beat the scum 1-0

Obviously stats don't tell the whole story but as in this case I think it does highlight something that a fair few of us suspected but because Mackie is a "battler" a fair number of fans overlook the clear fact that actually he is far more selfish/ indulgent/ whatever you want to call it than our supposed show-boated Adel.

So there's no stats to back it up?
I could easily state "Rowan Vine rated as most consistent and loyal player in the GB football leagues" and say its coz "I fink so"
I hope Mackie plays at some stage tomorrow and bags a couple and shows his usual passion for the shirtI need some time in the sunshine, I gotta slow it right down.
