I have to feel sorry for Crewe and the now retired Dario Gradi. Pope, is like many others a product of their magnificent "Academy work" over the years. But that´s football. They still find themselves rooted to the lower parts of the league.Anyway, more to the point;
The writer of this article did also make a comparison between him and Holt/Lambert, if nothing else that is interesting. It clearly shows that we have not seen the last from the type of player we once used to call an "oldfashioned" English centerforward.

The only thing that occurs to me about that article? No, not that we should take a punt on Pope but why oh why do we not get to play Oxford at the weekend. Surely, with that defensive record, even Rangers to get 3 points
