  • The alternative if Hughes got sacked

Lots of people call for Hughes to be sacked but Im just curious to see how many actually have a suggestion for a viable alternative to Hughes given that nearly all the players now are his players and all the back room staff have been brought in by Hughes.

My suspicion is that most haven't actually thought about the implications of sacking Hughes and are simply being very very short sited.

    Happy to be proved wrong.

'Arry seems a favourite but for me that would be a step backwards. If you look beyond his media persona he has bought as many bad players as good ones, spent lots of money at Pompey and Spurs and arguably not done anything more than you'd expect at those clubs bearing that in mind. A decent manager yes but also a high risk one and in my view no better than Hughes and with Hughes you get all the infrastructure building as well. My view is we have to be patient and look at the bigger picture rather than a disappointing string of results at the beginning of a long season. The squad is almost entirely new and will take time to gel. Some of the players are new to this country. The quality is there though. I would summarise my feelings as disappointed but relaxed.

Spot on.... Harry is no great manager. He wastes fortunes buying loads of players and not rotating properly, so the back ups sit there earning fortunes and the first team struggle towards the end of the season.

Also he doesnt change games and is certainly anything bu a tactical genius. Spurs played well yes, but if they went behind or the plan wasnt working, he struggled and invariably they lost.

Also, he needs and has about 500 coaches working with him, so hardly his revolution at spurs.... I think AVB will take them forwards.

We need to think long term, it's the most important thing for our club.

          No to Harry.

For many years I wanted Alan Curbishley as manager, though I don't know if that's a viable option any more.

What I think is urgent however, is a bloody good defensive coach. Someone who can teach our defenders to do the basics. I can't believe all our defenders are that bad and I put our current problems down to poor coaching and tactics. Can't be anything else.
Supporting QPR isn't just about a football team. It's about roots and identity.

We need to bring in our own version of Steve Bould. He's worked wonders with Arsenal's defence over the summer.

Someone give Danny Maddix a call and see if if he's up for a few hours a week.

Keep Hughes for the long term though. There really is no better option available at the moment.

Well Hughes was a striker, Bowen was a LB and Niedzwiecki and Hitchcock were GKs, so it does make you wonder where the defensive specialists are...

Isnt Bowan supposed to be the defensive coach.... perhaps he needs a bit of a chat. Either way, it doesn't dispute that we were solid last season at the end, and this season against Chelsea and for the most part Spurs etc, so its more about having our choice defenders available for me.

                    hughes has achieved nothing anywhere
'arry made spurs into top 4 contenders, only that prolonged court case shafted him
he had pompey into a decent side and west ham always were a handful...ARRY FOR QPR, he's at most games anyway.
we've had alleged dodgy characters before at qpr going back decades....hurry up arry come on come on

he had pompey into a decent side...and also led them into near-bankruptcy with his reckless spending. it was ok doing that at spurs because their income allows it.

Rafa's final year at Liverpool was a disaster, as was his all too brief spell at Inter before getting sacked there two years ago. He's been unemployed and out of the game ever since.
