Seriously can't play left back. I know I am stating the obvious but Mark Hughes f***** it up on sat and cost us at least a pt.

I remember going back and watching the game on bbc between sheff wed and Palace. Winner take's all as whoever lost got relegated.
Palace hang on but they we're very lucky. I said to a mate of mine of watched it with me, that's 1 of the worst left back performances I have ever seen. That player was clint hill and he was by far away the worst player on the pitch. Being that slow and turning like a small truck does not suit you playing at fullback.

Clint in an honest pro and I bet he was begging for hughes to change it as he was doing his best but unfortunately that's just not good enough. Play him in the middle Hughes or be prepared to lose your job it really is that simple.
I played sunday league football today.

Clearly I was the best player on the pitch.

I scored 5 and made 7 last ditch tackles.

We lost 5-0 but the rest of my team were sh it!

Traore wasn't fully match fit and could only play 45 mins. Sparky doesn't like risking players even if they have a slim chance of aggrivating their injury or are not match fit. I think once EVERYONE is back and fully fit we will start seeing a better and a more stable team every week with maybe 1 or 2 changes (if that) to the starting xi every month. This is when we'll start to pick up points. I think we'll start picking up points against Everton after the break.

In absolute fairness to Hughes he didn't have a choice anyway with Traore struggling to be fit and its stating the obvious that Hill isn't cut out at full back at this level. Warnock played Hill at LB in the promotion season and then decided he couldn't cut it in the Prem. However, he was a much better bet a CB than Gabbidon and Fitz Hall who were ahead in the pecking order despite being continuously woeful. Hughes came in, saw his full back performance at home to MK Dons in the Cup with Traore injured where his pace and distribution was abysmal and converted him into a centre back where he had cover but still did a great job last season.

I've said this so many times. Hughes had a choice in the summer and could've bought another LB, but instead CHOSE to overcrowd our midfield with players who will hardly play this season, and left us weak in this position.
Supporting QPR isn't just about a football team. It's about roots and identity.

Hughes did by another left back Fabio but he and Traore are both injured ! But that doesn't fit with blaming Hughes does it.

Hill is 4th choice left-back, behind Fabio, Traore and Bosingwa (covering). All three of those have been injured, as has Dyer and various CBs, meaning Bosingwa was needed at rightback.

Are you seriously suggesting we should have three or more specialist left-backs in a 25man squad?

If the injuries to Fabio, Traore, Bosingwa, Ferdinand, Dyer and M'bia had instead been to, say.... Faurlin, Granero, Diakite, M'bia, Park and Derry, you'd be making this EXACT same post but with defenders and midfielders swapped.

Great point. Credit to Clint for helping out the team as fourth choice LB yesterday. I guarantee no one is more p@ssed off than him at being beaten for the first goal (for which Anton F was also, predictably, at fault). Unlike other players he'll be beating himself up about his performance all weekend.... Clint's a top man who's been great for us and deserves our support. He's also proved- most recently at Spurs- that he can do a great job for us at CB.

Lets not forget we voted Clint Player of the Year too last season, so surely cant be as bad as some are suggesting. Yes he struggles with pace but he is committed and a great squad member, he knows himself if everyone is fit, he is unlikely to start but I would rather have Clint in my team than a fair few other established Prem players.

It's nice 2 see that some of the players read this message board and typical hill owning up to knowing he should be playing there although a real concern that our manager played him. Also I have no problem with him at centre half because onuhua and ferdinand have been nothing but useless. Never been a ferdinand fan as he likes to throw in some titus bramble moments so hill and nelson in the middle for me.

I agree with this. Hill was doing his best. he cant make himself faster. At best, perhaps he could have gotten a bit closer to foul Long before he crossed, but for me most of the blame for the 1st two goals go to Ferdinand for not dealing with the deliveries better. In Ferdinand's defence, his only excuse would be that perhaps he was not really fit enough to play, but was asked to do so by Hughes because there was no one fit and capable to cover as CB. Mbia (maybe he needs time to adapt) has not exactly covered himself in glory in his two previous CB outings, so perhaps would have dome no better than Ferdinand had he been chosen to play in Ferdinand's place.

I think fans should perhaps give Hughes the benefit of doubt about performances so far this season as he cannot be at fault for the injuries to Fabio, Ferdinand, Traore & Bosingwa. The only one he can perhaps be blamed for is Dyer, who should not have been given another contract, unless his last one stated he would get a 1 year option.

But I forgot, we are football fans and therefore should not have any patience or understanding.

No one is under any illusions about what Clint is capable of at his age, least of all the man himself.

Why in that case did Hughes not legislate for that and make sure he wasn't exposed at all times? No only that but why were we treated to the ludicrous sight of Clint manfully helping out on the overlap? Even Warnock knew he shouldn't be crossing the half way line in that position.

Injuries are understandable, shrugging and sending out a suicidally unprepared selection is not. It's not as if Traore and Fabio broke down in the warm up, they've been injured for weeks leading up the the game. It's just not acceptable.

That is a very fair assessment. Only question is, how long can one give him the benefit of the doubt?

If he helped himself with the selections he can control, I'm sure he would get a lot more sympathy.
